I really have to say that navigating the B1900 is a wonderful challenge! I try not to use the GPS but fly from VOR to VOR. It's great to have both - the FMC on the 737NG, and the radios on the B1900 :)VOlker :]

Hi Ray,Not really an aircraft specific tutorial (and it may be too elementary for you), but you might want to check this out: http://www.navfltsm.addr.com/basic-nav-general.htm?I found it very helpful when I first started non-GPS navigation (since I'm not a real world pilot, I needed to learn it all in the simulator). In fact, when I don't fly the PMDG 737, I almost exclusively use VOR/NDBs rather than GPS.

Thanks Ian, kinda funny eh? Once you step into the heavy world, one forgets the basics like tracking a VOR with a little crosswind ;)Since I flipped over to heavies with PMDG's 777 for Fly! then Fly!2 then PIC then PS 1.3 then NG, it's been a long time without having to fly a simple aircraft. :-lolRay

even when youre in heavies, navigating the "old fashion" way shouldnt be difficult... esp. vor navigation.

You must know how to navigate the old way. Don't use FMC or GPS again until you master it.It's no fun if the plane does the whole thing and you don't even understand what it does...And you don't fly VOR to VOR either. Try following airways. Here are some manuals I compiled when I was a training officer at www.israelairlines.orgthey might helpVOR:http://www.israelairlines.org/training/art...english/vor.phpNDB:http://www.israelairlines.org/training/art...english/ndb.pdfAirways and Intersections:http://www.israelairlines.org/training/art...english/A-I.pdf
