Hello, the news we get here in germany report that a Tupolev 154 from Belorussia (Bashkirian Airlines) and a B757 frighter (DHL) crashed in a mid air collision at FL350. Both aircraft were totally destroyed, the debris was spread arout 40 square kilometers. Wreckage from the planes caused some major destruction at the ground, a school and several buildings are on fire. 2 persons were reported to be on board of the B757, about 80 passengers on board of the Tu 154. According to the place where the crash occured the Tu 154 must have been on the UL856 airway on it

German news reporting the 757 was from DHL. Collision near Ueberlingen, near Lake Constance. The other was a Russian Tupolev154. Both carrying cargo. Martin, why is it a sad day for German aviation? It is a sad day for the families and loved ones of those killed, not for the bloody aviation community. The aviation community will go on and hardly anyone will remember this whereas the families will never forget. Sorry but I just hate it when that media spun line is used everytime there is an aircraft accident.

Wow, this is horrible. How does something like a collision at cruise alttude happen in this age of TCAS and constant radar contact??? It'll be very interesting to see what led to this...

I'd say you need to lighten up on Martin.... Who said his use of the word "Aviation" doesn't encompass thoughts of families and loved ones.... People have different ways of expressing themselves--please respect that and don't grandstand....

Ditto that...It's a sad day for aviation anywhere. Let's not sound like Peter Sellers in the movie Dr. Strangelove arguing with the Russian premier over who was more sorry.Mike Stone

Indeed...Martin, you are correct, a sad day for all of aviation, including German. Apparently, Eric just doesn't "get it."

>Both carrying cargo. >At least one was carrying almost 80+ pax, unless it is counted as 'cargo' too.Michael J.
