Texture Problems

Recommended Posts

Guest Heather 636

Could use some help here.I have been trying to install Area 51 in Nevada. My first attempt was with the one developed by Jamie Al-Nasir. The surrounding desert texture was fine but many of the building were that blank white. My next attempt was with Dennis Waggoner's, which looked great, except now, the surrounding desert texture is white.During the install process of Mr. Waggoner's, I also installed the ASP texture files into the FS2002/Texture folder.I believe that is where the problem lies for now I get the white desert texture, regardless of whose version I have up.Turning both off from within the sim, via ADDON-SCENERY, removes the bases, leaving only normal desert with no base installation. It is only when I try to have either one of these bases installed that I now get the white texture of the surrounding terrain. Is there a texture from within that ASP package that I can remove from the FS2002/Texture folder that will restore the surrounding desert to it's default texture?http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d23c6dc10d91dff.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d23d39c247c9ade.jpgOh, disregard that UFO; that's a "balloon." We have it from official sources that they NEVER existed. They're all a hoax.Regards,Heather

Heather Im sorry you didnt get my email. http://my.voyager.net/~sbdwag/desertgl.r8You will have to right click on this link and save target as.and them make sure the filename is desertgl.r8 and not desertgl.r8.bmp.Copy this file into your FS2002Texture directory and all will be fixedOr you can redownload the scenery which has the problem fixed along with some more updates to the scenery.http://my.voyager.net/~sbdwag/groomlake.ziphttp://my.voyager.net/~sbdwag/gmlake00c.jpgTake CareDennis Waggoner

I got your email Dennis, but silly me, I screwed up somewhere and installed the bmp file rather than the correct one.Everything is working fine now and looks GREAT!!Looking at the fantastic job you did with this, I can't wait to see what you do next. Thanks for being patient with me.Sincerest regards,Heather

Again, looks great. And those night textures are fabulous! Is this stuff very hard to learn? I've had an idea for my own private airstrip and surrounding facilities but haven't yet looked into the logistics of it.I hope I wasn't too much of a pest on this, but I'm a stickler for making things work. If there's one little place in my FS world that isn't working right, it will drive me bonkers until I get it fixed.Heather

Its kindof a pain to learn and alittle expensive. By the time you buy Nova, Architech and FS Design Studio you'll have about 100.00 US in the investment. Unless of coarse your a code wizard then you just write your own Macros and compile them with the Free Scasm 288.Either way is quite a learning curve. Im using techniques that are really outdated and thus the scenery suffers alittle with framerates. Now the way to go is with GMAX but again that is another learning curve that only a few have mastered expecially with scenery. As they say Im only a Grasshopper. Ill never be Simflyer material. Im not learned enough and dont really have time. May be by the time FS2008 comes out I might get alittle better.Take CareDennis Waggoner

JulianYou keep talking like that and I'll get the bighead. Im nobody really The guys that are creating stuff like Simflyers and KMSP and John Wayne . They are the pros.Basically Im just using software that people created to make scenery easier to create. The real scenery people are going beyond the bounds of the software that is out there to make scenery. They are the real programmers basically writing raw code and compiling it. Those people can make a airport really come to life. Those are the real artist.http://my.voyager.net/~sbdwag/Glake.jpgThe Real Groom Lake from Iconos in 2000Take CareDennis Waggoner
