SET TOP BUG

Recommended Posts

Guest Johnnyvk

Hi everyone! I have a question i cant find the answer for anywhere.I was studying the "737 PROFILES" documents i downloaded from fmcguide.com and cant find a reference to this anywhere. On NORMAL TAKEOFF page it says "flaps 5 takeoff- at 1000AFE and v2+15 PF- flaps one vnav,or climb power level change SET TOP BUG at vm1 -flaps up after take off check" ok i pretty much got it all ok except SET TOP BUG.cant find that anywhere.what is TOP ?take off power?I dont know why or where you would set this bug.maybe used in older 737s only?also called for in the go around procedure.Anyone know the answer to this, please enlighten me,its driving me crazy!! Thanks John Van Koeveringe (in CYOW)

This probably refers to the "BUG UP" procedure where the MCP speed is manually set to the minimum speed you can fly with all your flaps up.Hope this helps.Cheers.Ian R>

JohnIan is exactly right, it means set flaps up maneuvering speed, which is depicted as the green "up" bug on the airspeed indicator.Best of luck,Travis
