Need help with cargo door gauge

Recommended Posts

I need help with Xaver Benz's and Thomas Scholz's pmdg_cargo_door.zip file that I downloaded from AVSIM the other day. I can't get the gauge's button to appear on the Overhead panel.I've modified panels before, so I think I have a decent understanding of what's involved and I followed Xaver's instructions exactly. Here's what I did:I have the 600-700 and the 800-900 packages. I placed the .cab file in the gauges folder as directed. I then modified the 2 panel.cfg files referred to in Xaver's Read Me. I did this for the panel.cfgs in the 600 and the 800 aircraft, all the panel.cfgs for the other aircraft being aliases. I then loaded a 600 aircraft, entered the 2D cockpit, and the Cargo button just isn't displayed on the Overhead panel as the JPEG accompanying the download indicates should be the case. Similarly, when I load the 800 aircraft, the Cargo button also isn't displayed on the Overhead panel.I've made no other modifications to the panel cfgs except for adding the single line that Xaver instructs be added. Has anyone else encountered this problem or have any idea what might be going wrong?Macwino

I added the cargo gauge manually and it worked great I know this sounds silly but make sure that you:1. You saved the cfg file(I've forgot that before).2. You restarted Flight sim (for some reason I have had to do this for some mods to take).3. Make sure that the gauge is numbered as the next in the sequencing.Just a couple of Ideas good luck.P.S. Don't expect a PMDG response as modifications are not supported. Make sure you back up before you do it.

If you have the 8/900 package why not use the PMDG menu optios to assign a key to he doors. Far easier and works every time.

Your suggestion to use a key command is definitely an option that I will implement. I just couldn't understand why I could not implement the panel gauge button, etc. But I've finally figured it out, as described in my next post. Thanks for your thoughts.Robert Chartoff

Thomas, thanks for offering to help. I figured out the problem with some help from Xaver. It seems that the panel.cfg change works only when you load the plane with the 2D panel. In other words, if you load the VC or the VC and Cabin configurations, the cargo button will not appear on the overhead panel. Similarly, the panel.cfg addon out there with the engine and wing views will also not function as intended in these configurations and will only work with the 2D panel configuration. I can't understand why this is the case, but that's how things work on my setup. Perhaps you can explain why this is so.Robert Chartoff

In case anyone is interested, I've been able to get the cargo door button to appear on the overhead panel when using the VC and Cabin configuration. This configuration has its own panel.cfg and you need to modify that file as well as the 2D panel.cfg. The wing and engine views, however, do not work properly even when incorporated into the VC and Cabin panel.cfg. Probably needs some more tweaking.Robert Chartoff
