737 800-900 - Brakes on horn warning on takeoff?

Featured Replies

Scenario:Brakes are locked: horn sounds to indicate same (normal)Pilot is continuing to next destination, re-programs FMC, starts take-off run with brakes off and the horn continually sounds until rotate.I can't find a disable setting.Any help appreciated.Ron McLeod - CYEG

I don't clearly understand your situation: "pilot is continuing to next destination"-are you prepping the cockpit for takeoff?-are you in flight? You then state "starts take-off run" so i guess you're on the ground and taxiing. Then you spool up the engines to begin the take-off roll and the horn sounds.then there are a number of things that can be wrong:-stab out of trim-flaps pos (must be 1,2 or 5 for normal takeoff, don't know it if will accept higher values)-speedbrakes down and locked (auto-arm mode disengaged)-maybe it will be triggered if you are only on standby power, not sure on this though.I hope this helps, but i do not clearly undestand your situation and problem.

When you are going through the set up checklist for your second flight click the Autopilot disengage button and then click it back on and see if that takes care of your problem. I think the A/P just needs to be cleared just like you need to clear your FMC. Also make sure that you switch off you F/D and A/T. Good luck.

Also, it has been pointed out that you need to move your spoiler to the OFF position after landing (with the mouse!). It seems that the spoiler is the cause of most of the t/o warning horn incidents on the second t/o.

>-are you prepping the cockpit for takeoff?>-are you in flight? That's been done and the FMC has been programmed.>then there are a number of things that can be wrong:>-stab out of trimI'd have to check that one, but that should not apply since I manually land the airplane. Speed brakes are disabled.I don't know, but I think the horn doesn't understand that a new flight has been entered. Thanks for your input.Ron McLeod - CYEG

>I'll give that a try, but normal procedure for me is to dissenage the A/P & A/T on short final for a hand flown landing. When you say this do you meen that you push the button for the A/P-A or do you mean that you press the disconnect bar. I press the A/P button to dissable the autopilot but not the disconnect that way I can fly a missed approach if needed just by pressing the TOGA button. Once I exit the runway I press the disconnect to completely turn off the A/P. If you are just pressing the button the A/P is still on and it is not going to realize that you are starting a new flight. You may be doing this but I just want to make sure because others have had the same problem and it was corrected by this.

>realize that you are starting a new flight. You may be doing>this but I just want to make sure because others have had the>same problem and it was corrected by this.I see what you mean. This may be an anomoly in my setup: on short final, I disable the A/P on the panel, but I may leave A/T active since (for whatever reason) it appears to remain active as long as I don't touch the A/T button. When I want manual throttle conrol on short final, I disable the A/T. So, I'm thinking I may be leaving the F/D activated (can hardly see the little lite), and that may be the reason for the horn.I'll check that out later today, and thanks for your help.Ron McLeod - CYEG
