July 20, 200421 yr Hi !I don't now if somebody else has seen it, but yesterday i saw a docomentation about the 747-400 on Discovery Channel. They talked about technical Specs of the 747-400 and asked Guys from Northwest Airlines about their experiences. One technic guy from Northwest explained the specific wing performance on the 747-400, like the winglets. To mind back to my tread about Flexing wings ( some said it isn't necessary) the guy explained that the wings are some feet below to the level of the windows on ground and the even flex up to some feet over the window level when in the air. It also has to do somethign with the amount of Fuel in the Wing Tanks. So i still think Flexing Wings should be an inportant thing on the upcoming PMDG 747-400.Marcello
July 20, 200421 yr I think it's on the feature request list from another post.I remember the Boeing wing stress test where they attach this multi-ton crane to the end of the wing, and basically pull up until it breaks. The dang wing flexed so much it was above the top of the fuselage when it snapped. This and the turkeys they throw in the engines to ensure that they also function as cuisinards when a flight of geese is cooked on take-off. Of interest is the story about the (unamed country) who purchased a 777 for the national fleet and ran the old feed the turkey to the engine test, and completely destroyed the engine in the process. Upon consultation with Boeing, a (smart) engineer remarked: you know, you really are supposed to thaw the turkey first...
July 21, 200421 yr Well I believe PMDG have stated many times that they have plans for the 744 and flexing wings. I don't know what the situation is now but believe Vin is certainly capable if doing it ;-)Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J.
