WestJet 737-700

Recommended Posts

Guest bluebird17a

I know there have been a lot of congratulatory notes to PMDG for their success with the 737 NG series, but I must add mine as well. In Canada, one of our new airlines, WestJet, flies the 737-700. I had an opportunity to visit the flight deck on a recent flight and I must say that the accuracy of the panel, sounds and flight model is right on.I have always wanted to become an airline pilot, but will likely never make it ... and I want to say thanks to PMDG for creating this product as it is the closest I will ever get to flying a real airliner.Congratulations, PMDG!Jay http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/86234.jpg

Hi Jay, If there was one NG that you could say that this NG was modelled after it certainly would be West Jet! Of course there is good reason for that :) Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. I actually met Steve Weiher at an avation meet we had a few weeks ago here in Calgary. He's a great guy! At first, I was going through the cockpit of a 73G he was attending, pointing out various items to my Mom, and he was surprised how knowledgeable I was with the 73 and asked if I'd ever heard of PMDG. :) He introduced himself, and the rest is history I guess.

Yes and Steve's interest and knowledge in flight simulator is highly regarded! Of course there is one more West Jet professinal in the bunch who knows his stuff..Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. Randy,Do you find the new AMD 64-bit chip makes a difference in your flight sim? Is FS2004 designed to take advantage of the 64-bit chip?Jay

I certainly found it better than my AMD XP 2100 XP CPU in FPS for FS although I have also many other new things so hard to tell exactly. I don't think FS has anything special in the 64 bit arena, I suppose the current FS is strictly a CPU power pusher, the faster you have the better your FPS or so the theory goes. Although Westjet is my favorite airline, and I do live in Calgary, I still find myself flying American when I'm commanding the 738.

Gents-Nice compliments for Steve. He has been working with the PMDG beta team since early 2003, and he wa a significant force in helping us raise the level of technical accuracy in the sim.To his credit- Steve is very helpful- and detail oriented- (and not afraid to throw a few stronly worded email around when when he thinks we aren't doing the airplane justice) and spent a significant amount of time ensuring that we understood some of the finer points of the airplane.Glad to hear you bumped into him in person...

Hi I am also a big WJ fan...having been on them 4 times in the last month I can tell you they are fantastic. I also had the chance to see the cockpit while on the ground in Winnipeg, and I am astonished at how acurate the PMDG model is. Question does anyone have a WJ 800 or 600 series? Or are they in the works at PMDG? As you know WJ is getting both models. CheersBruce
