Flaps and speedrestriction bug on climbout.

Recommended Posts

I keep getting this wierd speed restriction that will not vanish:picIt's basically not getting the fact that I have restracted the flaps. Then it goes all normal in cruise and comes back weird on desent.Any pointers to what I do wrong?

I know when this restriction should showhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/87235.jpg How this relates to your flight I am not sure. Would have to have the complete details on this route, WHAT CHANGES you did to the default climb-crz-des speeds if any etc. I would like to replicate your flight exactly so we can rule out if this is a real or situation bug. I am very interested in the GRK wpt which is your current wpt and what if any restrictions you have on that wpt? But this seems well out of place here. Have you been loading from this flight from a saved senario?Best Wishes,
Randy J. Smith

P M D G's 747-400

coming to a runway near you
Caution! GRK is just another part of the STAR; I am to this day not sure how I provoke this bug, except that I have an irkling feeling that it involves some sort of race condition on the FMC logic somewhere, and that I am pretty sure it is a uncontained logic flaw in the FMC. The reason for this belief is that I had a thread on it a few months back and it came up emtpyhanded. (Ref. topic opic #46693 on this forum)It happens during climbout and I'm always low on weight (in this case a 100k lb -700, no payload, just fuel); there are no speed restrictions on the following waypoints, I have flap retracted pretty much as soon as I select gear up to get the speed restrictions ou of the way. This configuration happily climbs 4000+ ft/min at 240kts.

Hey Alexander, Yeah it's possible. Tell you what, if you ever do find the right combination that causes this please share this information. Right now the team is 100% on the 744 ;-) but our beloved NG most likely will get some further updating and maybe another package like the BBJ (Maybe) so it's always useful to have the issue clear for an update. YAY!I have found out at what point the dodgy bit of data happens; it is reproducible about 1 out of 5 times. Sequence I follows is this:* Start FS2004, create flight, choose PMDG 737-700* Create flightplan ENZV-ENHD, cruise at FL140* Start flight* Sitting at the beginning of RW36 I open the FMC and do these items: * INIT REF key, POS INIT to ENZV * RSK to RTE page, DEP ENZV, ARR ENHD * DEP/ARR key, select DEP for ENZV, RW36, SID LUCKY2R (RSK activate/EXEC) * DEP/ARR key, select ARR for ENHD, RW14, SID LUCKY4J (RSK activate) * INIT REF key, autofillin ZFW, etc, fuel reserve 1klb, cost 55, EXEC, RSK N1 LIMIT * On N1 LIMIT page, RSK again to TAKEOFF, flaps 5 at LSK1, autofill takeoff speedsAnd now for the grand finale: * CLB KEY and onto the climb setup. * As soon as I select LSK for MAX ANGLE. Boom. SPD REST goes to xxx/FLAPS where the xxx equals MMO clean speed for my current weight, etc. * If I select another climb mode and go back to max angle then it cancels any speed restriction (displaying ---/---) even at sea level (at which point it should default back to 250/FL100?).Since it is not recurring everying single time, and after resetting the climb mode properly displays no PSD REST I think it may be a data corruption issue of sorts. If you take off with this restriction in place, no amount of thrst and fully retracted flaps will make it go away, untill it hits CRZ mode, and then the speed restriction pops back in for DES mode.
