Graphics graphics graphics ? :-)

Hello,I know this has been covered in various posts in terms of what do do - but I still cannot get the clarity I need on the Main panel buttons (specifically the Master Caution etc). Additionally, when in windowed fullscreen, the text on the PFD showing things like a/c in TCAS is very blurred (I can work with it but it is not as clear as I think it should be).specs: ati radeon 9800 pro (128)512 RAMP4 2.5All other panels like the overhead are fine.In these pics, note the Master Caution Button, where one is clear as it used to be prior to the installation of the 800/900 addon.I have done everything except re-install PMDG really, and I am really trying to leave that to last due to the amount of work it needs to re-install it :-)(images reused from other posts to save ... ) :-)My screen still looks like this one:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/86979.jpgand I am trying to get it to look as crisp as this one:http://campbell-multimedia.co.uk/temp/fmc2.jpganyone?cheers,Ronniehttp://ronnie.vandelaak.com/baw644.gif

Try higher resolution like 1280x1024

I edited my post because your gauges are sharp but it's just too small to read them. What is your resolution?

"In these pics, note the Master Caution Button, where one is clear as it used to be prior to the installation of the 800/900 addon."Ronnie, if memory serves me ok, I believe they changed the panel textures for the 2D panel also for the 600/700 in the initial 800/900 release in april. I bet the second picture there is from a 600/700 installation without the 800/900.

Mip mapping wont effect the 2D panel as far as I know. The best solution for this problem typically is as follows:1) Run the sim at 1280x960 or higher. 1280x960 is the native resolution of the PMDG 737NG panel2) Add the following line to your FS9.cfg under the "DISPLAY.Device.YOUR CARD HERE" section:PanelAsTexture=0So, if you have an ATI 9800 XT like mine for example, your section will look like:{DISPLAY.Device.RADEON 9800 XT .0}Mode=1280x960x32PanelAsTexture=0TriLinear=1RenderToTexture=0Let us know how it works out.Best,Vin ScimonePMDGwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/devteam.jpg

Hello Per,Thank you, that could very well be it (in fact I too, think it is ...) but if the images have changed, I hope someone from PMDG can formally confirm it (saving a needless re-install :-))thanks again,Ronniehttp://ronnie.vandelaak.com/baw644.gif

Hello Vin,Yes I have tried these settings before and in fact still have them in the fs9.cfg. I have done all the checks to ensure that I have not missed anything, (like dual entries of the vid card and so on). I did do quite some browsing prior to posting this as I did not want people to needlessly have to go over the same ground if it was mentioned.Vin, is your screen crystal clear with those buttons as shown on the second screenshot? If it is and you have installed all the updates, I think I will uninst/re-inst the a/c and see what happens then.I will however, re-check the settings you have mentioned above again and let you know, (at work at the mo).many thanks,Ronniehttp://ronnie.vandelaak.com/baw644.gif

I have the exact same effect. It happened after the update to the 800/900 v1.1 as well. I believe they changed the graphics for the 2D panel as you can see it looks more "worn" than the panel did prior to the update. It used to be crystal clear as in your second pic.I'm running at 1200x960x32- John

Hi Vin,I think I will just leave this. I have tried the settings as you mentioned but to no avail on any of the a/c. I think it is probably just graphic change so I presume that is just the way it is going to stay :-)It does affect the flying, just aesthetics is all :-)John, thanks for your last input - just shows I am not alone on this.So until PMDG fix this (or not as the case may be) - consider this topic closed. If I do re-install and it fixes the issue I will post the info on this topic :-)Thanks all.Ronniehttp://ronnie.vandelaak.com/baw644.gif

Well yes the graphics have changed. The master warning is less clear. In fact most all the 2D panel's graphics are different in the 800-900 and updates. The CDU is still the same though :D The new panel though is clear, take a look here if you have a fast line http://www.rawbw.com/~bdoolin/shinault/737ngpanel Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. Whoops.. Ronnie.. I read your initial question more closely and yes, Randy is right, the graphics of the PMDG 737-800/900 Upgrade are slightly different and use photographs for the master caution and fire buttons.Sorry for sending you in circles!Best,Vin ScimonePMDGwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/devteam.jpg
