Your can find what my OLD POS computer (AMD 1200) could do by clicking on this link: http://www.thepilotlounge.com/scripts/foru...p?showtopic=450Pretty pathetic. I couldn't even run the PMDG 737 back then. I had to upgrade ... ... My new system:Pentium 4 3.0Ghz 800FSB, 1GB DDR400 on ABIT IC7 and (drum rolls please) ATI 9800XTI consistently got 30-35 FPS... with 1600 x 1200 and everything turned up (except "ground objects cast shadows")And this is what my new setup can do with the PMDG 737:Taking off from Linate, Milanhttp://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...venice2/sc1.jpgGear up!http://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...venice2/sc2.jpgTurning to the North.http://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...venice2/sc3.jpgReally crappy weather...http://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...venice2/sc4.jpgBut it clears up later ... http://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...venice2/sc5.jpgI cannot believe how good this plane looks http://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...venice2/sc6.jpghttp://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...venice2/sc7.jpghttp://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...venice2/sc8.jpgComing up on Garda Lake.http://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...venice2/sc9.jpghttp://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...enice2/sc10.jpgAlps are peppered by puffy clouds.http://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...enice2/sc11.jpghttp://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...enice2/sc12.jpghttp://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...enice2/sc13.jpgStarting the turn for Venicehttp://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...enice2/sc14.jpgUnfortunately they gave me a visual approach ... no ILS. Oh well ... I gotta line up manually.http://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...enice2/sc15.jpgAgain, this plane just looks awesome!http://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...enice2/sc16.jpgRight on the glide slope.http://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...enice2/sc17.jpgFlaring ...http://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...enice2/sc18.jpg... and touchdown.http://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...enice2/sc19.jpgLadies and gents ... welcome to Venice!http://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...enice2/sc20.jpg:)

>Nice screenshots, but it's amazing you're using a nice Luffy>bird from Milan to Venice !>I thought initially you were going to Frankfurt or Munich...>Yeah, I thought about it. But the Milan to Venice trip is one of the trips I made back in the day when I had my old system and couldn't fly anything better than the stock MSFS 737 ... I wanted to re-fly that same route to see what difference it would make.:)

>Probably would've been more productive posting those>screenshots in the screenshots forum.>Nice Rig though ;)>John Ok ... I am a bit confused. I plan to make more flights with the PMDG 737, take pics and post them but this AVSIM forum is gigantic to say the least. Which one would be the "screenshots" forum? I looked for it but I didn't see any forum with a name or description that said "post here your screenies" or similar ...Just trying to do the right thing ... Thanks for your help!

Nice shots! Can you tell me how you got these screenshots? Are you using Print Screen and saving one picture at a time or are you using another screen shot capture program. If yes, can you tell me which one? Thanks

If yes, can>you tell me which one?>>ThanksI normally user FRAPShttp://www.fraps.combut for this round I did it the manual way: printscreen, alt-tab, paste.Painful and slow but I haven't had the time to install all the goodies I had on my old system ... too busy drooling on the new graphic card.:)

Just asking, but if they gave you vfr in to Venice, how did you actually know you were "right on glideslope?"Thanks.

Thanks. I know what you mean. What's more important than playing with anything that improves the flight sim experience :-)

>MarcoAviator>>We have very similar systems.>I was wondering what manufacturer and type of memory you are>using?>>Waldo>>I am using Kingston. 2 Kingston 512MB DDR400 PC3200.My motherboard is supposed to be able to use them in "parallel". Indeed there's a color coded set of slots in the motherboard and I have them on slot 1 and 3. 2 and 4 are the other set ... and they are empty ... for now :)

>Just asking, but if they gave you vfr in to Venice, how did>you actually know you were "right on glideslope?">>Thanks.>Look at this picturehttp://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...enice2/sc17.jpgDo you see the lights on the left side of the runway? 2 whites and 2 reds? Those are PAPI lights. Precision Approach Path Indicator ... PAPI.Red on white ... you are all right. When it's red on red you are too low, when it's white on white you are too high. Red on white is right in the middle of the ILS glideslope.Usually the Glideslope and the visual approach path (indicated by the PAPIs) match in angle of descent. That's why I said I was on the "glideslope" even if I wasn't really using ILS equipment to land.
