WEATHER RADAR ON THE PMDG 747-400

Featured Replies

ATCs don't see WX on their radars. It is up to pilot to request for example 10 degrees left for CB avoiding. In Estonia the Control usually says Avoiding on own discretion, report clear or something like that.

[;)]Good point :) LOL

very few ATCs have weather info (but some do ;) )The problem in FS is that the weather is generated on the client.. so if a pilot wants to deviate from a thunderstorm he sees and the next one wants to go exactly there it COULD lead to a problem for the ATC. mainly during a big flyin... :) As somebody said.. when the weather in FS gets "real" then we will need a weather radar... at the moment it would overkill (as nice as it may look :D ) Bye, Luca

PMDG & WX Radar? read here

Are you sure Georg? I`ve seen ATC radars with the possibility of Doppler radar overlay on it.One other thing, the Active Sky "radar" is not a radar, more like a satellite picture. On the real thing the picture is presented in a completely different way where you will have shadow effects behind large buildups etc. BTW, didn`t PMDG cooperate with Reality-XP with the ND gauges on the NG? Cooperating with them on a weather radar shouldn`t be impossible but hey, it`s their decision! In my opinion it`s not fully realistic and "Precision" without the WX radar....Strangely there has never been a official statement concerning this from PMDG so just maybe they got a little surprise for us?RgdsKevin

Hi Kevin,In the US some TRACON has WX radar but not all. Also, the regular ATC radar can pick up some weather, but it is limited. PMDG cooperated with Reality-XP on the B1900. As mentioned weather is on the wish list for the 744.

BTW, didn`t PMDG cooperate with Reality-XP with the ND gauges on the NG? Ah never heard that but do believe it is false....Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. I would like to see the weather radar included (and maybe the terrain display for the EGPWS?). Problem is that the second you deviate form track, the FS ATS unit starts yelling at you to turn onto an intercept heading to re-gain your track, and (and this has happened to me a couple of times) when you ignore them (which of coures I wouldn't dream of doing in real life :-halo ) they cancel your IFR plan. Great!! Any thoughts?Cheers,Amman Tiwana.

The only cooperation between PMDG and Reality XP that I know of was that RXP created a panel.cfg availiable for using their Jetline 2 gauges when the B1900D came out. As far as I know, they weren't involved with anything else.

Amman, I think you can re-load the flightplan if that happens, but I

Someone said, that as the weather doesn't rip the wings on in FS that a radar weather is somewhat pointless....Well, the mountains don't kill you either, so why bother with Meshes?
