Recommended Posts

WOW, thats a good idea Tom, have you contacted project ai and told them about this for their "project airport" section? Maybe they incorporate this for their ai planes and airports. Thanks for the info,Bill

How I do it is just like described in the post below - for example:1. I set United planes to 23 meters in AITM. It doesn't matter what their actual size is.2. I then set United gates in AFCAD to slightly larger than that. One meter equals 3.281 feet. So: a. 23 meters = 73.83 feet. b. Set the gate radius to 74 feet.3. Continue this for all other airlines, but use different radii.I agree with the others, the 75% factor does NOT come into play here (if ever).Hope this helps,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://www.calclassic.com/Cal Classic Alco Page: http://www.calclassic.com/alco/Freeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Overlays are great to activate more runways, but this is SOOO easy, it is great even for when more than one airline parks within an overlay.-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://www.calclassic.com/Cal Classic Alco Page: http://www.calclassic.com/alco/Freeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Hi Bill,Thanks for the kind words. As for contacting PAI - well, no. It's not really my idea (others have used it too) Also, I use a vintage group of airlines, so my radii would not be "standard". For example, I include Western, Pacific, West Coast, BOAC, Pan Am "Clipper", etc. in my chart!Feel free to bring the technique to their attention, though.Take care,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://www.calclassic.com/Cal Classic Alco Page: http://www.calclassic.com/alco/Freeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Need a hand Mike,When I go to do as you explained in making another airport file it asks if I want to replace the excisting airport file. This I don't want to do but just layover the new one so I can have the gates. Can you explain how you make the new airport (KLA2) lay on top of the original airport.(KLAX)Thankshttp://members.shaw.ca/dan_cyxc/sigcard.jpg

There are step by step directions on how to do that in the AFCAD manual. Look for "Making Overlay Airports". You have to edit the airport, export it, edit the export txt file to change the ICAO code and the name, import your "new" airport, reload the original airport, edit it as the other overlay, and save it.Hope this helps,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://www.calclassic.com/Cal Classic Alco Page: http://www.calclassic.com/alco/Freeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___
