August 25, 200421 yr Hi everyone!May you help me pleae for my FMS (737 NG all types - version 1.3) is reporting "INSUFFICIENT FUEL" all the time. While planning the flights I keep in mind the description "Cruise - fuel load estimation" and "Fuel planning methodology" published by the members of PMDG. But whatever I load into the tanks the warning-report persists. Not matter whether I wish to make a short- or a long-haul-flight...What can be done here? Thanks and best, yoursBertwww.fsc-ev.de
August 25, 200421 yr just a question - does the same happen when you use the PMDG Fuel planner?its on: http://www.metacraft.com/737NGFP/http://ronnie.vandelaak.com/baw644.gif
August 25, 200421 yr Does this happen all the time or do you only get the message shortly after take-off, during your climb? If so, I've read that that's quit normal, I only forgot why.. ;) I get this message quit often when I've just left the airfield. I delete the message and all is okay. The message is only on the FMC: if you look at the legs page or anyother page that shows your predicted fuel you should see everything is normal regardless if that message.
August 25, 200421 yr Hi BertI also had the same thing happen to me the other day, but mine had a logical reason. It happened when i inserted my flight plan using a particular Sid. When I looked at the lines of the flight plan one at a time, I discovered that for some reason it thought a particular point in the SID was over 3000 miles away from me where in fact it was only 2 miles. I am guessing there was maybe an error in the navdata I have so I simply deleted that waypoint from my plan and all was well. I cant remember the details but if its important to anyone i am sure i could repeat it, and when i entered it manually it was the only occurance of that name in the data so it wasn't me pressing the wrong choice, as there was no choice for that entry.regardsJohn Calleja BAW352 John Calleja
August 25, 200421 yr Commercial Member Gents-We describe the reason for this error in the manual....We obviously don't use an behavioral table/predictive model that is as complex as the one used in the airplane... As such it is possible to trigger this message during periods of flight where the fuel consumtion is high (e.g. climbout) and the instantaneous fuel prediction calculation determines that this fuel burn combined with predicted fuel burn on each successive segment will leave insufficient fuel at destination.Another way that you can trigger this warning accidentally is to set the RESERVES figure too high in the FMC.... The warning is generated not by "Fuel Left in the Tanks at Landing" but is generated by the "Reserve Fuel Level Desired."So adjusting that figure will make the warning go away- but obviously- silencing a warning can lead to other unwanted outcomes. ;-) Robert S. August 25, 200421 yr I actually got it in a particularly long cruise at flight level! The first half of the cruise the message kept going on and off--dest fuel was predicted between 0-3.0 all the time with relatively unchanging wind--FF was around 3.0. Of course.. half way through the cruise and as I get closer to dest the message disappears and I landed with my FMC reserve--7.3 ;)
August 25, 200421 yr Commercial Member Weird, I've never really seen this outside of some issues with a few of the beta builds. It is true that you can get it though if you set the reserves field/cost index too high on the PERF INIT page... I usually use 5.0 for reserves.
