October 16, 200421 yr Hi,During descent I usually use V/S to loose altitude. V/S is a good confortable system (for the passengers) of descent but it increase the speed if we don't reduce speed before using it(ex. 260 kts).Is it possible to use spoilers (<5%)as speedbreaks like it is used on real planes ?If yes, how to do it and at which max speed can I use spoilers ?Thanks for you help.PMDG 737NG are very good planes. Gratulations to the developpers.Jean-Claude JollietSwitzerland*:-*
October 16, 200421 yr Of course! VMO/MMO or approaching it should be the limit. Typically SpeedBrakes will cut the deceleration time-distance in half in level flight. With flaps 15 or greater speedbrakes should not be used.Best Wishes,
Randy J. Smith
http://www.rawbw.com/~bdoolin/shinault/Animation1.gifCaution! October 17, 200421 yr Hi JC,May I humbly suggest flying the PMDGsim the same as the 737NG is in the real world.Use VNAV for DES and if you get a DRAG REQUIRED message then use speedbrake exactly as it was designed.LMK if I can help further,Brad
October 17, 200421 yr Author Hi,Thanks to Randy and Brad. Great, I can use now the spoilers as speedbrakes in the air. So it is much more like in the reality !I was unable to find the right key on my Swiss/German keyboard. So I switched to an US keyboard and it worked perfectly.Have a good end of week-end,JC*:-* http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg
