B737NG Full-Motion Sim at London Gatwick open to the Public

Featured Replies

I'm a keen PMDG and FS2Crew user, and I work for company which offers full-motion simulator rides in the UK. This may be considered a shameless plug, and it is, but I hope you'll forgive me as it's very relevant to PMDG pilots...After a 1-year wait, the B737-700/800 Next simulator at Gatwick is now available again. The 'NG' simulator has been fully booked with pilot training during the last year, so we haven't been able to operate it.The good news is that we've finally been able to secure a handful of dates in December & January:http://www.virtualaviation.co.uk/fun/avail...ailability.htmlHope to meet some fellow PMDG users!

Man, I'd love to get some time in that thing. It is too bad I'm in CYSJ ;-] On a side note, my grandmother flew in to CYSJ today from YYZ on a A319 because the scheduled CRJ had mechanical problems. I checked my flight tracker before she left YYZ and saw the A319 code...and I was excited. I've never seen an Airbus land here, so this was sweet. :)

GulpThat's a bit of wedge! ........ Still, have to do it. See you there. I once got a 4 hour session at West Drayton in a 747 for free. It's a long story - and I once flew a Trident 3b with the "flying camera" display. That was a while back mind you!Oh - your AVSIM discount would be ......?? :)

Nick... Good news, we're introducing a special discount scheme for Isle of Wight residents who use FS2Crew and PMDG's 737NG! However, with 737NG sim time like gold-dust, it only applies to the B757/767 and A320!You did extremely well to get free time on the 747 sim many years ago. Well done! In the old days, pre-privatisation, BA Cranebank was more like a private flying club than the 'profit centre' it is now. You could write to them expressing an interest in airline training/simulation and hope to be invited to have a look around. What a horrible mercenary world we all live in nowadays!

My brother is a film cameraman for the BBC and was covering a "challenge" for (topically) Children in Need where celebs had to land a 747. The person in charge (a man called Tom Pharoah as I recall) offered my brother a go but, alas, there was not enough time so an offer was made that he could return. He knew I would be keen so took him up on the offer. So there you have it. I was expecting a half hour session and, as the day drew on (we even stopped for lunch!) I began to appreciate how lucky we were!I had a mad notion of attempting some fund raising simulator challenge one day (ummm untrained pilot managing to fly airliner to say 10 UK airports without crashing?? - just a brainstorm example). Get some fundraising going - bit of press exposure etc. Money to Children in Need. Could even get some support from the Avsim forum members. So if your company wants a bit of press .... and could spare a sim and a FO for a few hours?? :()Never mind that - I'm quite interested (though my credit card has run away to the circus) so I'll probably give you a call.Cheers

Excellent, I flew the B777 at crankbank in 2000, that was fantastic, one of the best things I've ever done. I'd love to come back for another go, but that isn't possible anymore, so I guess the B737NG is the next best thing :-) My G/F said she may give me some money for a go sometime next year, so as soon as I get the money, I'll be there
