Will the 747-400 require even more PC h.p. than the NG?

Recommended Posts

I am getting increasingly concerned about what kind of sim experience I will have with the forthcoming Queen. The 737NG runs pretty well at this point on my P4 in 2D, but if I run it in the VC, frames are chopped significantly (30% to 40%), especially at lower altitudes with just default MSFS scenery around and a ton of Ultimate Traffic (75%). I just did an FMC flight in the 2D-only cockpit of the NG and it was respectably fluid (my cap is 22 fps). Anyway, seeing that the Queen is obviously going to have everything programmed into it under the sun, and observing that emphasis is being placed on using the Queen's VC rather than the 2D view, I wanted to ask in advance whether the Queen will reduce my PC to a slide-show. Actually, will the 2D view in the Queen require more h.p. than the 2D NG ? Appreciate any info on this item. Thanks!Jonathan

I Googled Jonathan Sacks and came up with a few hundred links about a Rabbi? This is you? Dr. Jonathan Sacks?

2 comments. Nowhere does it say there will be "emphasis" on VC so don't make things up. And when it comes push to shove and you will be running out of your CPU power would you consider lowering density of your "ton" of Ultimate Traffic? This puzzles me often the most - folks rather endure stutter and poor performance but won't give up their beloved AI ... . also there is absolutely no evidence that accurate systems modelling has negative performance impact - PS1 running on a 200 MHz PC should make it self evident.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2

I've noticed something rather strange on my computer. When I disable (rename) the original bgl-file for AI-traffic, I can ran Ultimate Traffic at 100% with no problem and still get around 25 fps in the 737's 2D view. With it enabled my fps drops drastically and even with AI traffic reduced to 60-65 % I still only get about 14-15 fps in the same situation. I could somewhat understand it if I had lots of default ai-traffic around me but I hardly see any!

I think the VFR and GA AI has the most impact. I switched these off. When crusing at FL380 I don't care about all these little cessnas I don't see anyway. And that AI sucks CPU a big time even if you can not see it.Alex

>I Googled Jonathan Sacks and came up with a few hundred links>about a Rabbi? If you google even more you will find this famous US economist Jonathan Sacks (either from Harvard or Chicago University) who was the main advisor to many east European countries when they were transforming their economies from socialism to free market about 14 years ago.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2

No, that is JEFFRY SACKS and people often confuse me with him! When I was at The World Bank I was feted everywhere because people thought I was him -- it was a pity to have to let them down !Actually, I am not the chief rabbi of the U.K. either (!)Then, who am I....?JS
