How come when I land the reverse thrust idles by itself .......

Probably an operating limitation to prevent foreign object ingestion in the engine. On the Challenger, we're limited to 60% N1 below 60kts for that reason and our engines are up on the fuselage (read, higher above the junk on the ground). This is just an educated guess since I don't fly the 73 for real but it's certainly a logical possibility.

Joe,That seems a bit odd as the NG, as far as I remember, doesn't have any automatic protections for reversers. Autobrake has nothing to do with reversers. It only applies to the wheel brakes but takes the deceleration from the reversers into account when computing the wheel brake action when in position 1-3 and MAX. In RTO it will always use maximum brake action without deceleration rate. Hope it helps,

hmmm I wonder what may be the problem i just had another flight and again using reverse thrust will idle itself before i reach the throttle. I'm using the keyboard not a joystick for reverse thrust.

Probably spikes/noise from your controller that will make FS believe you are at the throttles already. That's my guess.Hope it helps,

Mats is probably correct that your thrust controller needs to calibrated. If you have a registered version of FSUIPC, you can check what the controller is doing within FSUIPC.
