FMC/ATC 737NG 600/700

Hi, Just wondering whether I should also upload my flt plan to FS9 when using the FMC? It seems ATC tend to ignore things like approach & departure altitudes + SIDs and STARs. I have always flown 'older' aircraft upto now so have relied on ATC for navigation to a certain extent having 1st filed my plan but am really wondering how I should now approach this to get clearance etc at departure and arrival airports as the FMC is all new to me. Many thanks, Neil

NeilInteraction between 737 routes and getting FS9 ATC to correspond is the subject of many a topic. It can work - but it soulds like you may expect too much. You need to match the route (.rte) file with the plan (.pln) file for FS9. There is a utility to do this or you can do it with the likes of FSNavigator etc. When you start FS9, load up your flight plan. Program the FMC. FS9 ATC will then operate, by and large, in accordance with your flight plan. If using a departure SID, you can either ignore one of two ATC commands and fly the SID or let ATC vector you. Near TOD, you can either cancel IFR and fly a STAR/approach or once again let ATC vector you. It's sort of OK but not fantastic. FS10 may implement ATC a little better ..... or investigate VATSIM and have "proper" ATC coverage.Cheers

I'm using FS Commander 7 (which supports 737NG) for flt planning so I guess if I upload to both FS9 & the 737 FMC I should be ok? Thanx again,Neil

If FS Commander can export to both - that's perfect. Actually, it works reasonably well and gives you a reasonable ATC workload to play with.If you haven't tried VATSIM (and there's a lot to learn) do it one day. It takes this combination to a new level :)
