PMDG 737 600/700 TCAS??

Recommended Posts

Guest aidanybbn

Hi Guys,Just purchased the 737 on Sunday and its amazing!!! its so deep!!!Anyway I want to ask is TCAS Modeled? When I use test on the Transponder it does not appear on the ND (as a test) When I press the button on the EFIS the range rings show but no traffic does.Adding to this, when I access the PMDG Menu > styles, I only have one little area of options, no TCAS options. Am I doing something wrong?I have a good hang of the FMC Programming, Takeoff, climb, cruise & Descent... My main problem lies in Approach and Landing. Im used to that #### MS2004 GPS and having FS ATC Vector me to the Active. Tips in approach would be of help!!!Again... The most awesome experience ever flying this sim!!! Cant wait for the 744!!!Cheer'sAidanYBBN - Brisbane Australia

You would need to buy 737-800/900 package for the TCAS function. Funny thing is that I bought this package last weekend, and I still do not see traffic! I turned on the transponder and put in in TA or TA/RA mode. The "TCAS OFF" message on the ND went away, but I still see no traffic ...I guess RTFM :-p- NeerajPS: Yes no kidding I am waiting for the 747-400! I hope it does not kill my system or my bank balance though!!

Yes, 800/900 package required. Then you must turn transponder to TA/RA as well as turning the ND TCAS display on. Do that by clicking the button used for the distance in the ND. It has the letters TFC right on it. Then it'll indicate TCAS mode and show rings or just one small dotted ring around the plane from 10 to 40 nm.Also, be sure to check out the PMDG menu when hitting ALT. It gives you airline choices for EFIS/MAP mode or the new PFD/ND mode. This is based on certain airlines. In that menu there's an option to show or not show non-threatening traffic. Some airlines show all traffic, some only display when it's a possible conflict. One last thing, make sure to use the FSUIPC mode for getting the TCAS data from.

If you are flying in a multiplayer session, I found that the TCAS only works if you go to the PMDG options and choose FS2004 instead of FSUIPC.DLL. John Palmeri-Bluewolf

Wait a minute! does TCAS work when flying online with IVAO or VATSIM? How can I do that??? I always use the TCAS that comes as a separate window from the IVAO pilot client. would be great to have a working tcas on the ND or map. thanks for the reply. regards, victor

Yes TCAS works with VATSIM, IVAO or any multiplayer session. Just turn it on. Take a look at the tutorial, it explains things further.
