I am not with PMDG, but here are my thoughts...PMDG created a very complete manual for the PS1 simulator many years ago. I do not have it (wish I did), but that manual was a hige value payware item. With the production of their current FS 747 offering, release of the entire manual (prior to product purchase) just does not seem quite fair to PMDG.Now, with that said, I know they have done this in the past. But I have a gut feeling that this package will be a much more complete than anything we have seen in the past, and I consider the manual to be a major part of that.In other words, I suspect that the manual(s) alone for this product are itself probably 'payware' quality both in terms of content and depth. I personally would not be upset if only one or two components (chapters?) of the manual were available for free download. However, I consider it very very important to keep the support forum for the 747 available to ALL to see!(man, I hope I dont get burnt up for stating these views)

I understand what you're saying Mike, but I seriously doubt a company that has won awards for customer support as PMDG have done could possibly release an addon as complex as the 744 will be and then not provide a complete manual as part of the purchase package. It would certainly be very uncharacteristic of them.Having said that it would be understandable if they wished to make hard copies to order and charged for that. Perhaps these could be more detailed and include tutorials, wall posters or whatever else they wished to add.My opinion on the matter.

AhmedSorry to give you that impression. I was specifically stating that all the manuals maybe should not be downloadable UNLESS you purchase the product. Again, maybe just some of it.sorry again

Gents-I am currently writing the manual for the PMDG 747-400.Normally we have allowed the manuals to be downloaded from the PMDG DOWNLOADS page, and at the moment I don't think we will very from that policy.They open question is: WHEN?I'm not certain. I'm hoping to finish the manual soon, and after we've had a chance to proof it and review, we'll make up our minds. ;-)

To David You will use more than a tank of ink to print the Boeing Manual . May I recommande to you a much more usefull manual by Captain Mike RAY , "The Unofficial BOEING 747-400 Procedures Manual" . A 325 pages, spiral bound manual where all the cockpit procedures are clearly explained with many hundred of black and white view of the panels . Dear Robert,many thanks for your explanation. I would only have said that, no matter of the fact that manuals will be free or to be paid, due to the high complexity of the forthcoming PMDG 747 it would be better to have manuals and tutorials available some time in advance of effective release of the aircraft, in order to let people to be prepared to use it. Andrea,The persons who generate those questions won't bother with downloading the manual even if it's there before release. Mainly because they wouldn't read the manual before asking in the first place. (A bit toungue in cheek) ;-)Cheers,
