single channel approach

hello,when I fly a single channel approach and want to cut of the approach I switch off the auto-pilot and give full power. But when I put the auto-pilot back on with a new altitude setting, the single channel approach continues. This is very frustrating. What am i doing wrong.How do you get rid of the single channel approach sign, what's the right procedure.thanks,Sander

Anyone of these will exit the current mode and is the onlty way in RL too...[h4]Randy J. Smith[/h4]

...and just to clarify, when Randy says turn off the A/P, he means use the disco bar. The only reason I added this is that I made the same mistake asking the same question months ago.Thanks,John
