How smooth is the AUTOLAND in the QUEEN?

It's very nice - I haven't seen a single bounce yet the way the NG does sometimes. If you saw one of my earlier posts too, the 744 has a fully moddeled 3 axis AP and will use the rudder to kick out crosswinds during an autoland - it's quite cool to watch.

Ryan, one question. What is the crosswind limit for the 747? (no chance for me to read the 747 Manual until today)With the NG last time I make a approach (no autoland) with 18 Kt crosswind. Looks great and a little more work to bring her in.Best regardsStefan

No autoland lands SMOOTHly, i can assure you that. The point of an Autoland is to make a positive landing. Firm touchdown, not smooth. The only autopilot who can make a smooth one is your brain, up to now.Cheers
