Possible feature - Small variations in cruise alt/spd

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,This is purely an idea and NOT a 'imaginary bug report' or 'the 747 is rubbish without this feature' kind of post.On a recent 744 flight deck visit I noticed that the Altitude and Speed tapes have a contant variation in value. The altitude seems to waver +/- 5 feet from the commanded altitude. The variation was quite slow and steady so that the plane would go from +5 feet to -5 feet over 30 or so seconds before going back to +5 feet. In the cruise, the speed tape would vary by +/- 2 knots over a 15 seconds or so cycle. The reason I raise this is that sitting on the flight deck, it was the ONE thing I saw that felt different to the behaviour of the PMDG 744. Almost everything else was amazingly accurate, the sounds the lighting and the general ambience are spot on. The truth is if I'd not been up on the flight deck of the real thing I wouldn't have noticed this difference. Now that I have, the idea that it could be modelled in some way in FS is consuming me!What I'm talking about here is an extension of the engine readings variations that the PMDG 747 has. It all lends to the sense that you're flying something real with it's own little lifelike tolerances. Most addons hold the alitude and speed in a way that no real-life aircraft could ever do and it takes away ever so slightly from the immersion of flying a quality add-on like this. PMDG, perhaps such behaviour can be implemented into the 747?
