Winds in 747 FMC.

Recommended Posts

Guest stockerharris

I would be most grateful for some advice concerning the entry of winds into the 747 FMC.Page 58 of PMDG 12-FMC Users Guide-747 clearly states that you can enter wind data for your route of flight. It also says that each fix (waypoint) is given its own WIND page, which is accessed using the W> prompt for each associated fix in the RTE DATA pages. This is exactly as described in Bulfer and Gifford page 108.I presume that "using the W> prompt" means clicking on the LSK?R button abeam of the desired waypoint on the ACT RTE 1 DATA page. When I do this, the ACT WPT WIND page is not called up.Is this function not implemented or am I doing something wrong.THe FMC is fully progammed and the IRS's aligned.David.

Dave,If you take a look at the SU1.03 thread, you will see that it will be implemented. I assume that the manual went to print knowing the future implementation in the FMC?

Hi there, took me a while to figure out - not like the LDS767, you just type in the winds as in 276/56 and then line select it the where the < W is. You don't actually click on the W to bring up a new page like in the 767. Also, the FMC does take the winds into account with teh Arrival times and fuel - you can see it as you put the winds in (if they're significant).Hope this helpsRudy

Take a look at Capt. Randy's thread of fixes/enhancements.

Now that the update is released I am sure that this is NOT implemented. You can not enter cruise winds that I am able to find.Note; this is different from the descent forcast wind inputs.

Mike,See Rudy's reply above. You enter the wind in the scratch pad and then line select it to whatever waypoint you desire. Mind you though that the waypoint has to be at cruize level. No winds are allowed to be entered in climb and/or descent. It does work!Hope it helps,
