My displays look different, some other questions

Recommended Posts

1. I know that a complete idiot could find a solution to this problem but I am very new to this product. And I am trying to get the correct displays on the Attitude indicator screen and the other navigation screen right now, they look different to how they should look. Here is what I mean:http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/3606/help2er.gifI have tried restarting everything right from cold and dark many times and was unsuccessful. This is not the first time this happened, it happened yesterday when I was following a tutorial, but then I somehow changed it to the original display appearance (I really can't remember how). So can someone please show me a way to change it back?2. Can someone please point me to a good flight plan tutorial that shows the neccessary steps in making a flight plan with the PMDG 747? Is there a certain program (freeware only please) that can make flightplans that can be imported by the FMC in the 747?3. I would also like to know where i can get readymade flightplans for the FMC?

Hi,You need to align the IRSes to get the screens looking right. On the upper left part of the overhead, turn all three knobs to NAV, then open up the FMC POS INIT page and select the GPS position into the lower box where it says ENTER IRS POSITION. You may need to do it twice if the plane has moved from its last known shutdown location. Here's a good tutorial that will show you the basics of creating routes in the FMC:http://smithplanet.com/fs2004/pmdg/

Thanks for the information, but I have already tried aligning the IRS many times and have failed numerous amounts of times. Now that I know what is actually causing it, I'll try again, thanks :)

this looks like the switches are still in align mode. try pushing them to NAV after the alignment is done and you should get the screens back to normal.hope this helps,Ronniehttp://ronnie.vandelaak.com/baw644.gif

2. Can someone please point me to a good flight plan tutorial that shows the neccessary steps in making a flight plan with the PMDG 747? Is there a certain program (freeware only please) that can make flightplans that can be imported by the FMC in the 747? I don't know of any one FREEWARE planner, and I find fsbuild quite heavy for just flight planning, so I use a variety of applications. - The first one is http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/, where you enter the departure and destination. You get a flight plan including the airways.- the other utility I use most is FSNavigator (http://fsnavigator.com) and it does not cost much. Once you have installed this F9 from within flight simulator will bring up the application and you can plan from there and export it to your pmdg folder (you can get the extra export module from the same site at no extra cost)The only problem is that FSNav does not export your airways (FSBuild does I believe), but in conjunction with the planner I mentioned, you can always fill these in the FMC manually as the legs will be in there from the export. If you do not want to buy FSNav - you could always enter everything from the planner site into the FMC and save it for later use ... the FMC USER's Manual page 22 has a planning section ...3. I would also like to know where i can get readymade flightplans for the FMC?you mean apart from the ones that come with the 747? no idea :-)hope this helps,Ronniehttp://ronnie.vandelaak.com/baw644.gif

Try this link instead. http://rfinder.asalink.net/free although some folks seem to find the flight plans suspect on this website. You can also try http://flightaware.com/analysis and then go to IFR analysis where you can pick up real world flight plans that have been filed by the airlines; however it should be noted that these plans are weather specific, therefore they may note be the optimal flight plan without the specific weather conditions. I hope this helps.

Thanks, but how do I enable those flight plans in the 737 or 747?

buy fs navigator at fsnavigator.com download the pmdg import tool, and follow the steps. it will export a plan that you can punch in via the fmc, either in pmdgs 737 or 747. it also exports to the game itself and other addons.

>Thanks, but how do I enable those flight plans in the 737 or>747?Unfortunately I am not aware of any freeware program that will export your flight plans to the .rte format. However you can still manually enter each waypoint and associated airway, if there is one, into the FMC. The AOM for the FMC will explain how to do this. Once you have a flight plan entered into the FMC you can save it for later use.

I am not sure if you know this or not but I thought that I would toss this out in case you didn't to save a lot of time. When you get the flights plans from the first site mentioned, the www.rfinder site, you only need to enter the waypoints listed at the bottom of the page and not the whole thing at the top. A couple of people that I know were entering the whole thing until I told them otherwise. I usually find that manually entering them goes very quickly. Hope this helps, if you already knew this I am sorry for butting in. :-) Have a great New Years!!!!Philip Olsonhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpg
