Engine Start 744

Recommended Posts

Guest A32X

Hi,Just watching the engine start and I noticed that; When the EGT rises (after fuel is introduced) but no Fuel Flow (FF) is indicated, but after starter cut-out the FF finally jumps to 0.9The VIB indication increases to 1.8 but then jumps down to 0.9 instantly after the N1 has stopped increasing.I have observed the same for both Auto and Manual Start. Is this correct RL behaviour?Cheers,Paul

Also I've not been able to re-create;"Engine Flame-Outs during heavy precipitation"Or"Variable Damage Factors for Systems and Engines"Could someone explain these features?Cheers,PaulP.S. Looking forward to the next Type Course Module. :-)

"I have observed the same for both Auto and Manual Start. Is this correct RL behaviour?"No, it doesn't sound right. Either some intentional simplifications have been made in the simulation ... or, less likely, something has broken. Is this in the latest version of the sim?You should see fuel flow almost immediately after the EEC decides to put fuel on... and well before starter cutout. The rapid jump from 1.8 to .9 units vibration exactly at idle doesn't sound quite right. This is probably a simplfication. I believe their can be transient spikes, but this sounds a little different. According to the Maintenance Manual, during normal ops, sudden shifts of 1.0 units should be investigated. At idle, 0.2~0.4 is given as an expected value, but a little higher than this is no cause for concern. with the engines higher than idle, you should only worry about values of 4.0 or greater. Cheers.Q>
