2D panel is too dark to read

I am not alone in this I am sure, but in the 73 series, at night, I find reading and operating the 2d panel very difficult. When the panel lights are on, only the numbers in the guages light up and not the panel itself. Perhaps there is a way to lighten the textures? Has anyone done this already? I have tried searching avsim without success.

This is a common lighting scheme in modern airliners: backlighting.The backlighting in the PMDG 737 series is actually quite bright. OK I tried it, upped the brightness/contrast and adjusted the colour temperature. Only a slight improvement.I think the bmps could be photoshopped to change things in the right direction, but I lack those skills.

I find on my calibrated system that FS9 images have a compressed "gamma" or grey range of contrast. The video card advanced setting specific to your card may have gamma or curve adjustments. These may be changed to stretch the dark areas of your images. Just right click on the DT or use an icon if installed to get to your card's advanced driver settings. They will be saved with your user settings in XP.
