PMDG Transponder

Recommended Posts

Guest Hurri

Hi all, just received my boxed PMDG 737-800/900.Just one question regarding the transponder. The mode switch seems to alter squawkbox's mode correctly. However, I'm not sure the IDENT button works. When you press IDENT using the squawkbox window, ident flashes. However, when you press it in the PMDG, that doesnt flash on squawkbox. Altering the mode (standby, TA, etc, updates squawkbox perfectly). Is it actually identing in squawkbox, and just not showing? Or does this not work? Many thanks in advance.

It works properly. This is based on actual experience with ATC (i.e. when ATC has asked me to change my squawk code and press ident).- Bill

Hi there, thanks for the prompt reply, seems reassuring. However, does it definately work? I know someone who flies on vatsim who didn't know what ident was recently, he said he ignored the instruction, and ATC never said anything different...M Day

Well, when I pressed IDENT, ATC replied to say that he had radar contact. So, seems reasonable to suppose that it DID work. :)- Bill

Just throwing another vote in here for it working. I've used it quite a few times.

Now the question is, what happens when your BUS 3 fails and your left transponder is dead. What does Sqawkbox "see"? Can you still use the .x command and pretend there was a second transponder in your plane?
