1. I note a button at the top left panel labled "FPV". When I press on it a circle with crosshairs appears on the FDS panel near the FD crosshairs. What is this FPV for?Stanner2. At the button of the FDS panel is the word "Radio" with three number directly under it, such as 280. What is this for?Thank you.Stanner

on other aircraft at least, the flight path vector is driven by the irs and shows the aircraft's path through space in relation to the horizontal, unlike the flight director which shows aircraft pitch. e.g., if you're following the ils glideslope, the fd might show a 5 degree nose high attitude, but the fpv would be 3 degrees below the pfd horizon since you're descending on a 3 degree angle to horizontal.it can be a handy reference for landing when there is no electronic or visual glide path available. put the fpv on 3 degrees below the horizon in the pfd, and you've created your own standard glide path- hopefully there's a runway the correct distance in front of you ;) i've talked to some military pilots who've used it and most loved it.i haven't used it in the pmdg so i don't know how well it's modeled.

>i've talked to some>military pilots who've used it and most loved it....except, like everything else, we don't call it a FPV. It's called an Approach Indexer. ;)

It's also a great aid when you are MANUALLY turning the aircraft and want to keep it level in the turn not losing any altitude. I use it all the time and most my flying is done manually. More fun that way...jack
