Great job and question

Recommended Posts

Great job guys on the F model. Did a SFO-SEA flight and it flew great for the most part.I noticed somewhere in the later portion of the climb to cruise I lost thr/spd mode on the FMA. I'm not sure where I lost it. I got it back but not sure how I did it.Also, I noticed that while flying the ILS, captures to autoland, I disco the a/p at about 300-200 feet RA but can't retard the throttles, float a little, try a a/t disco, still no luck.Any guess as to where I'm going wrong? Thanks guys. :-)

Jeff-Could be a dozen+ reasons you lost the thrust mode in the FMA.(Note: Most users think that the modes selected on the MCP are whats controlling the airplane... Not SO! If it's not GREEN on your FMA- then it ain't working!)To get the thrust mode back- you selected a vertical mode such as VNAV. On the throttles issue- make sure you set up your "throttles override" check box in PMDG/Options. (We have a little primer on this use of this box coming...)If you have this box set incorrectly- when the autothrottle goes into HOLD mode, you then have "free play" control of the engines with your joystick throttle.. so if you aren't careful- you could leave them high and cause a float- or conversely- you could trigger a go around..The logic here on the real airplane is actually quite simple- but since we don't have mechanical servos controlling your throttle and since you don't have an A/T disconnect on your throttles (unless you really geek out like me) sometimes you can goof it up if you don't know what it's doing...We'll get a bit more information out on this particular topic once we get a chance to catch our breath....
