Help with Creating SID for FMC

Recommended Posts

Hi all I am wondering if anyone will be able to help me with the departure procedures for PANC that I have been creating. I used the non-official guide to the PMDG FMC format for making SIDs, STARS, APPROACHES etc... from Terry YinglingThe problem I am having is with the SIDs every time I try to go to them in the 744s FMC I get and error for unknown runway 06L.Here are the 3 SIDs I am trying to do:SIDSSID ANC3 RNW 06L HDG 069 UNTIL 2000 HDG 190 VECTORS RNW 06R HDG 069 UNTIL 2000 HDG 190 VECTORS RNW 14 HDG 144 UNTIL 600 HDG 190 VECTORS RNW 24R HDG 249 VECTORS RNW 24L HDG 249 VECTORS RNW 32 HDG 324 UNTIL 600 HDG 300 VECTORSSID KNIK6 RNW 06L HDG 069 UNTIL 2000 HDG 330 VECTORS RNW 06R HDG 069 UNTIL 2000 HDG 330 VECTORS RNW 14 HDG 144 UNTIL 600 HDG 190 VECTORS RNW 24R HDG 249 VECTORS RNW 24L HDG 249 VECTORS RNW 32 HDG 324 UNTIL 600 HDG 300 VECTORSSID TURN2 RNW 06L HDG 069 UNTIL 600 HDG 190 VECTORS RNW 06R HDG 069 UNTIL 600 HDG 190 VECTORS RNW 14 HDG 144 UNTIL 600 HDG 190 VECTORS RNW 24R HDG 249 VECTORS RNW 24L HDG 249 VECTORS RNW 32 HDG 324 UNTIL 600 HDG 170 UNTIL RADIAL 060 FROM NAVAID ANC HDG 190 VECTORSENDSIDS Could anyone possibly help spot errors?

Patrick,did you the define the runways?You need a block like that:RNWSRNW 07RNW 14LRNW 14RRNW 25RNW 32LRNW 32RENDRNWS(Example from EDDK.TXT)Edit: Look at chapter III (The Basic Procedure File) in Terry's guideBTW is this your complete file?Kind regards,

Sorry for being thick but what does this mean? (I am still new at creating NAVData). Where abouts is the FMCs runway database?

I'm no expert, but it means the FMC doesn't recognize the 6L rwy in your SID, so you must take out all references to it, and to its reciprocal 24R, from your SID. I can't help you further - I'm just a beginner with making SIDs/STARs too.Good luck,Geoff

I think this is because PANC's runway designators were changed to 07/25 Ill change their names and check

FMC uses the following locations:1. PathToYourFS2004FMCWPNAVDATA - Location for NAVDATA files2. PathToYourFS2004PMDGSIDSTARS - Location for the SID/STAR filesIn your case FMC means:Hey, your want to use runway 06L for PANC but I cannot find it in my NAVDATA (Path 1).Perhaps somebody else can explain it better :-rollKind regards,

Daniel,The runways at PANC were changed ages ago, the default txt file for PANC Procedures still shows the old designators.

Thats the problem with some "smaller" airports and this navdata stuff ;-)Look at your PathToYourFS2004FMCWPNAVDATAwpNavApt.txtOnly five entries for PANC:Ted Stevens Anchorage In PANC07R 10900065 61.167819-150.034375111.3006500152Ted Stevens Anchorage In PANC25L 10900245 61.167881-149.972647000.0024500152Ted Stevens Anchorage In PANC32 11584320 61.169403-149.997558000.0032000152Ted Stevens Anchorage In PANC07L 10600065 61.169764-150.008333109.9006500152Ted Stevens Anchorage In PANC25R 10600245 61.169811-149.948300000.0024500152There are only the runways 07R 25L 32 07L 25RI think this is the problem.Kind regards,

You guys should let Terry know about that - I'm not sure why the SID/STAR would show them as the old designators, both the NAVDATA and the SID/STAR are made from the same source I believe.

Patrick,do you use the latest files of NavData and terminal procedures?I don't think so ;-)NavData (www.navdata.at) -> PIC-PMDG_0513.zipTerminal Procedures (planepath.com) -> PMDG_Procedures_0603.exeSnippet from the LATEST panc.txt:RNWSRNW 07LRNW 07RRNW 14RNW 25LRNW 25RRNW 32ENDRNWSNo runway 06!I think you use an outdated version. :-hmmm

Hi,In his guide, Terry Yingling says he uses a "graphic flightplanner program" to find the lat/long of waypoints that can only specified in lat/lon terms. Can anyone say how often I'm likely to have to specify such a waypoint and can anyone recommend a graphic flight planner - preferably simple and freeware? I'm just starting out on making my own SID/STAR definitions.ThanksGeoff
