How to stop A/P disengaging when I turn the yoke?

Recommended Posts

Guest JTH

Hi everyone. When the 744 was cruising on autopilot today, I noticed that when I accidently brushed my CH yoke, causing it to turn a bit to the left, the autopilot disconnected! I turned back on the autopilot and tested it again to make sure. Sure enough a yoke turn yoke to the left or the right (not even holding it to the left or the right, just turning there in the first place) turns off the autopilot. Needless to say I would rather this tendency was disabled as it is it's very easy to accidently disable the autopilot in cruise, which isn't a good thing!!Thanks very much in advance for any help. Regards, Greg.

Double click the autopilot disengage bar for an easy shut-up.

Hi Greg,I believe when you put pressure on the yoke in the real world 747, it will disengage the auto-pilot. Ken.

It does it in real life too although it takes more than a "bump". Think of it this way, is it really possible to have some type of limiting "bump=degree" of pressure set in flight sim? I doubt it very much. The better thing to do is not to bump into the controls in flight ;-) ...............Randy J. Okay thanks for the replies, I will try locking the autopilot disengage bar as has been suggested. Can you do this in real life by the way?

Hi JTHyou can disarm this function as you want. It is in the PMDG drop down menu at the top of fs9. It is under the PMGD, General, Options, AFDS, then unclick Controls override boxes for the controls you want to disable, there are two choices.regardsJohn CallejaBAW352 (virtual world)
