FMC LEG Page displays changing Flight Levels during fli...

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,Got a question, I programmed my FMC using the FS navigator software and all speed changes and flight levels were checked before saving. After bring the Route to the FMC on the 747, set everything up for a flight and engaged LNAV. When I take off and put the flight into VNAV mode, I noticed the LEG page displaying different flight levels as it climbed to the requested Flight Level. I am not sure if it suppose to do that or it is a bug in the program. Please let me know what I am doing wrong.Thank youGihan

Gihan,If you are talking about the altitudes shown in small fonts this is perfectly normal. The FMC will recompute altitudes during climb and descent according to present conditions i.e. thrust, temp, winds etc, etc. Any hard altitude constraint, in big font, should be static.Hope it helps,

are you using a SID and/or any altitude restrictions?

Mats, I am not quite sure what you mean by small fonts but the LEG page of the FMC is where I noticed the numbers changing, next to the Speed refence. For example, 250/10000, that is next to a way point on the LEG Page. The 10000 number indicated will change, to let say 9987 or 9967 but never will it stay at 10000. I normally do not see that and wondered about it and could not figure it out why it keeps changing.
