As a security measure, the TWAA has announced that all non business related flights approaching within a 30 mile radius of Heathrow over the next month, must have an escort of at least two fighter jets. Furthermore photographic evidence of the escort must be presented to security, when booking in at the gate. Failure to comply will result in your craft being shot down.Thank you for your co-operation. :-lol

So...We either get to fly "shotgun" to ensure our pilot's safety or... can we man the guns ? :-eekHawkeyez :-kewl

Well isn't that just like the TWAA!!I'm going to jump right in here and translate it as I read it, just in case confusion heads our way.The way I read the NOTAM, there MUST be a multiplayer flight for at least the last 30nm to Heathrow. The flight must consist of at least 3 people (with more allowed). One plane carries the baton (that would be the baton-claimer). Two of the other planes MUST be fighter-jet types. There must be a screenshot with all three folks in it. The reason I read it this way is that if your "photographic evidence" consists of more than one screenshot, you've violated the rules. That means coordination to set up the flight, as well as semi-close formation flying to get the screenshot. :)--Tony

Scabbo...1. Should we (and I mean the collective "we") try to arrange a time (EDT ?) and location (1 hour out ?) for this multiplayer flight into Heathrow...?2. Do we ask for volunteers (count me in for "shotgun" duty with an F-16 complete with AI radar)...?3. From the "I don't know Dept.", what's the max we could have on the MP flight...?Hawkeyez :-kewl

Well AA stopped sponsoring my trips since i wouldnt be flying in the United States but the good folks over at US Air decided to pick me up as long as i brought the plane back to Goose Bay. With that limitation in mind i chose a destination not as far off as i normally would and i got to a late start with confirming everything with US Air but i was off the ground by 3:50pm local time. I was surprised with how much traffic was actually at Goose Bay at the edge of the Canadaian frontier. One of the stipulations from US Air was that i bring along a co-pilot, not my stlye but i consented because i wanted to get this leg in.His name was Mike and he was a grizzly fellow who didnt say much nor did i want him to, he did however agree to take the plane back to Goose Bay for me so i could follow along with the rest of the tour and not lose time. We got up to our cruise at 8000ft and 255 knots and there wasnt much to the trip. Other than the eerie silence in the cabin, only a few clouds in the middle of the trip so i got a great few of the wilderness around us.Mike, as quiet as he was sure was eccentric, he pulled out a whole smoked salmon with mayonaise and began to dine right in the right seat, i didnt ask for any...and he didnt offer (whew) as soon he was finishing up ATC began to vector us to land and we both got the plane ready. The last part of the trip took us right up the George River to Kangiqsualujjuaq, Quebec. We landed uneventfully at CYLU after 1 hour 45 minutes in the air and 268 gallons of fuel at about 5:35pm local time. The baton is free at CYLU, just try to get the smell of fish out of it!

Hawk (and others),1. That makes sense. However, other than being along for the flight if I'm still awake (and not at work if it's tomorrow), I won't coordinate ... coordinating it would be too direct a role given that I said I would not comment on how the final flight was handled. :)2. That is up to whomever coordinates it.3. I believe the max for Flight Simulator is 16 connections including the "host"Comments:* Usually, if everyone stands around and says "who will coordinate?" nobody does. It frequently takes someone to stand up and say "I will do this" for something to happen.* Whomever coordinates, make sure you post good instructions for folks who would like to join.Have I said too much already? :)--Tony

Scabbo et all...As near as I figure it (tell me I'm wrong) we're about 6 or 7 legs from reaching Heathrow...?That would place us 18-21 hours away... so sometime tomorrow between 11am and 1 pm (EDT) the "group" should be coordinating the final flight leg.So, who is going to be around to fly that final leg...? Unless I come down with a case of "sunny-day flu" I won't be able to (whhhaaaa).Do we get those available to draw straws or is it going to be difficult at that time of day (for those of use who "must" work) to gather 3 individuals...?Just deep thoughts as I try to get out of the office and "fly" home. :-)Hawkeyez :-kewl

I had already flown a trial run from Goose into Narsarque or what ever it is in Greenland. Now I wanted it to be easy in case I got to jump on in again. Didn't work , but only by one minute. But, why, if you do't mind me asking--did we go back Northwest? Aren't we going to Heathrow? Ha.

Just a thought...Most of our pilots are in North America, with a few from England and fewer still (if any) from farther east.If the final flight is scheduled for somewhere between ... say ... 7PM Eastern and 10PM Eastern, you'll accommodate most of the North America guys who will be getting home from work. Since England is 5 hours later than Eastern Time, you can take that into consideration and see if it is possible to schedule it late enough to let the Pacific zone folks have a shot, but still not so late that all the English are in bed!Just some things to think about.--Tony, the guy who just can't shut the heck up
