PMDG 744: ultimate pushback calculator is available!

Hi Captains, the pushback-gauge of the PMDG 747-400 is very nice. Nevertheless the results of a pushback are mostly a little bit unpredictable: where will the Queen stop?[ a href=http://www.vapdesign.com/PMDG744]747-400 Pushback-calculator:[/a]The brandnew 747-400 Pushback-calculator helps you to make precision pushbacks with the Queen to the centerline of a taxi-way. Now being more realistic it makes good sense to use the time, e.g. to start the engines during pushback. You can find the freewaretool here: http://www.vapdesign.com/PMDG744 (free access area!)Check the online-help at the top of the side! Please help to improve it and feel free to report bad-calculations to me: fs@VAPdesign.com[a href=http://www.vapdesign.com/PMDG744]http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/147982.jpg[/a]

hmm nice calculator but does anyone know how to (if possible at all) find out the exact distance?

yes thx but it says need flight keeper for thiswell I don have it:( however, pushback is not that important to make 100% precise calculations

>yes thx but it says need flight keeper for this>well I don have it:( however, pushback is not that important>to make 100% precise calculationsWell, pushback IS important for online flying - and if you've got the proper aerodrome charts you don't need FlightKeeper or other gizmos, the Mark1 eyeball will do just fine!Volker, I like your tool a lot - as I'm sure a lot of others do!!Cheers,S

I tend to agree with Paul on this one. It's a good idea but I think it's too much work just for pushback. Sorry.Anthony

Well folks, thanks for your participation in these little project. First I must say that in my FS-PMDG-world EVERYTHING must be as realistic as possible. So this is true for the pushback, too. That was the motivation to develop the tool. There seems to be a problem for the users: How can I get the headings and distances without 3rd party tools like FS FlightKeeper? In most cases it is too fiddly to measure the 3 values...So, here it comes ;-)[a href=http://www.vapdesign.com/PMDG744]http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/148140.jpg[/a]There is a new "distance estimation" function availabe in Version 1.1!And have look at the very usefull example in the online-help: [a href=http://www.vapdesign.com/PMDG744/PBC_quick_tutorial.asp#4]Quick & Dirty estimations of both headings and distances![/a]Following these hints (see turorial!) it won't be necessary any longer in most cases to make precision measurements but just make "quick&dirty" estimations. Entering these values in the calculator will result in quiet nice pushbacks, have a try!cheers,Volker

Well, V1.1 seems to be used quite often and to my surprise all around the world. hip hip hooray ;-)Any suggestions, whishes or tipps for an upcomming V1.2?AND: In addition I'd need some feedback about "unlucky" pushback calculations to optimize the tool (ICAO-code/GATE)regards,Volker

How about something that shows you (dependant on the distance and angel you enter) where your queen is gonna stand after pushback. You know the default FS taxing aid which gives you an amber line guiding you through the airport? Well something like that. You enter distance and angle and you get an amber (or whatever colour you like) marking on the place where your queen is gonna be afer a pushback with the values you entered.

Hi Captains, based on some feedback I improved the calculator. The current Version V2.0 is now available: http://www.VAPdesign.com/PMDG744http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/148969.jpgNEW: Make high-precision pushbacks by simply entering 3 reference points (see image above)! The tricky idea in this version is the screen-measuring tool which is available on my site (download). This tool can be perfectly used to get these 3 values.NEW: There is a SIMPLE-MODE and an ADVANCED-MODE available. The old (=advanced) mode has some nice improvements! Check it out...See online-help for details and examples.regards,Volker
