Well, I've been tweaking and testing an FSBuild profile, and I'm gonna go ahead and give it another shot.

It seems, for an extreme range flight like this, there's no way around using a good dose of CRZ BIAS, the compromise being, this gives fuel figures a bit on the heavy side for shorter routes, by a few 1000 lbs. It may end up being the case, that two or three profiles may be needed, depending on flight duration. If this goes well, and there's anyone else around here that's willing to test it out on a 5-7,000NM hop :), I'd like to ask for a bit of help testing it out. In addition to the CRZ BIAS change, a pretty heavily modifed version of the PMDG.prf file is included.I shouldn't get ahead of myself though, I have a good 17 hours before I'll know one way or the other.Wish me luck.

Looks good so far. If you'd like some assistance with testing, let me know. I've been flying a few 12 to 13 hour flights across the Pacific lately and would be more than happy to help out.

David,I'd be glad for the help, I just want to make sure I won't be wasting your time first :) Once I'm sure this will be worth your time, I'll send you a PM here.Looking really good so far though:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/149961.jpgI did pick up about 4700lbs of destination fuel remaining in the climb. FSBuild only allows you to set a climbout profile based on a single weight, and with the weight range of the 744, it'll be impossible to nail that down in a single profile, and it does make a huge difference across the spectrum. As of now it's set for a climbout based on a MTOW takeoff, which is probably where I'll leave it for the "heavy" profile. A few climbout shots :)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/149962.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/149963.jpg

Brian, That sounds like a plan. The other thing I've been wondering is whether or not there's enough of a difference between engine types to warrant different FSBuild profiles. Of course this would presumably apply only to those of us with the freighter. Maybe be something to look into at some stage.

Still looking good. It does seem that the profile as it is now is planning a bit too much for the climb, even heavy, and isn't prediciting enough for the descent. The result is the same, in terms of arrival fuel, but I'd like to get it to where the REM/AREM fuel column in the FSBuild navlog is more accurate. This would also keep the step climb predictions of the navlog in better synch with the FMS. I have consistently had, waypoint by waypoint, just under 5,000lbs over what the navlog says I should, but the predicted fuel at destination is still very close:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/149971.jpgThis extra fuel is the same ~4700lbs or so I picked up in the climb. I took a look at the navlog and sure enough, it planned I'd use about 27000lbs for the climb to initial cruise, when 22000lbs is a bit more realistic with a heavy climb to FL300-320. Very easily fixed, should be able to get that within about 1,000lbs or so.At any rate, this is working out in a much, much more predictable fashion than the previous attempt.

> FSBuild only allows you to set a climbout profile based on a >single weight, and with the weight range of the 744, it'll be >impossible to nail that down in a single profile, and it does make >a huge difference across the spectrum. You can do this for multile weights like for the Cruise section of the profile. It was added in ver 2.2 but not documented. Here is an example.[[GRWT]] 396 352 319 297 ; ALT TAS ROC FUEL; 35000 390 2692 37155 2800/34903 3000/32000 3100/30000 3200/29000 The 2 params are climbrate/fuelflow, the climbrate can be left out leaving only the fuelflow for each column. If you have an issue/questions with this feel free to email me.RegardsErnie.

Ernie,Excellent ! Most of these numbers are place holders from the single weight table I had before, but as an example, is this right ?

I have the data from FSBuild imported but how do you get AS6 data from the NavData file. I am unable to find it?

>Ernie,>>Excellent ! >>Most of these numbers are place holders from the single weight>table I had before, but as an example, is this right ?You need to keep the first ROC and fuel columns in place this was to stay consistent with the original format. It doesn't start parsing it that way till column 5.ex

AS6 maintains a snapshot file of loaded weather in its folder that FSB looks at for your generated/selected waypoints at youe selected cruise altitude. In the aircraft tab you selkect your aircraft and you set the surface conditions. You must set the path in FSB options and remember to save those options. Check out the FSB support forum.Note that after you have started FS9 and loaded your flight then refreshed from within AS the weather (and AI), the (737NG) CDU performance pages will show the surface temp where appropriate as well as the OAT in the EICAS.
