I don't get the artifacts shown above with my Radeon 8500. It is important not to use the drivers included on the original Radeon disk, but download the newer drivers from their web site. There is also a great radeon tweaker utility (search on google.com for it), and when you install, uncheck the "fog table" entry under directx, I believe. I think the Radeon as a good card, and most websites that do extensive testing place the Radeon (with latest drivers) about on a par with the GeForce 4 Ti 4200, certainly well above the GeForce3 Ti 200. Having said that, I think the Radeon doesn't render FSAA as well, loses more frames per second than a GeForce4, can introduce gauge blurring if you set AA too high. About 4X "performance" mode is the best I can do, and at 1280 x 1024 can generally lock fps at about 30 and get consistent performance (P4 2.0 ). I have been lusting for a Geforce 4 TI 4400, but fear it may require more than my 250 watt power supply, so have held off. Has anyone with that card had success with a less than 300watt PS??? Finally, if you can't go above $150, check pricewatch.com and note that you can just about get the GF4 4200 for that. Either that or the Radeon will do better than a GF2, I believe.
