B747-400 FMC NAVAID Databases

Recommended Posts

Guest MarkN

I am trying to unravel the arcane secrets of the B747's FMC and have got to the stage of setting up a flightplan. My problem is that I want to know how to make available to the FMC, NAVAID Databases such as those from http://www.navdata.at by Richard Stefan.I have downloaded some of these and they installed themselves in a folder called FMCWP under FS2004. Can the B747-400's FMC find them there or do I have to move them elsewhere? At present the FMC cannot access various airways thata I have tried to enter; I get the error message "Not in Database".Help anyone!Cheers,Mark

It's only arcane the first day or two... Yes: the FMC reads the wpNAV...txt files located under FMCWP and you don't need to move them. Entering an airway needs a fix entered first so, enter the first fix you'll cross on the airway (in the right col) then next line down left side enter the airway... it should work as long as the fix is on the airway.Hope this helps

Hi Dan,Thanks for the fast reply. I saw my mistake when I read your note: I had been trying to enter the airway in the right column under the fix... Must learn to RTFM more closely... BTW, what do the letters FMCWP stand for? It might be easier to remember if I knew.Cheers,Mark
