BIG texture problems with Project Airbus A320

Recommended Posts

I have a bunch of FS2002 planes, both GMAX and FSDS. This is the first time I have ever seen such a problem. The Virtual Cockpit turns out completely pitch black. Only the gauges show up.In the exterior model, all the textures turn out messed up.I copied and pasted the 3 different folders (effects, gauges, aircraft) in the appropriate folders. I did not touch or tamper with ANY of the files. Everything is as is.I've installed nearly 50 FS planes already, so I know how to install them pretty well.I have a Voodoo3 3000 AGP 16MB card. It's not a great card, but it works fine for FS2002. I don't have any problems with it.I have POSky's A330 and 767-300ER GMAX models and they turn up perfectly fine. I have plenty of other aircraft that are made in GMAX also.I downloaded the A320-100 House colors and that's all I have tried so far. I didn't download the CFM56 sounds yet.Below are screenshots that I have included.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Regards

If you haven't already, update your Voodoo drivers to the 1.07.00 driver set..... Also, some of the newer A/C use a texture size that the Voodoo simply doesn't support.... If you already have the updated drivers, that may be the issue you're running into... Try going into the Aircraft display settings, and make sure that the A/C texture value is maxed--see if that helps.-John

I'm having the same exact problems, only my textures show up in some places....for examply, my tail could be textured but the front fuselage is untextured, but periodically it switches to where the front is textured and the engines and tail arent', its weird and quite annoying...and i don't have any money to update my graphics card.....question......Is an ATI Xpert 128 16mb Graphics card good, and can it handle this A/c?

Quite simply you guys need to upgrade your cards. You don't have enough memory on your cards to display the textures and I would hazard a guess you have 256mb or less system memory as well as running out of HD space (if I'm wrong sue me, like I said, I'm guessing).I used to have issues with my ATI Radeon with 32 MB of memory where textures wouldnt show up, had to use my memory management program frequently to clear up some memory for the textures. Now that I have a Radeon 8500LE with 128mb no texture problems at all.I would suggest - if you can - that you upgrade to at least a 64mb card. (Nvidia or Radeon, doesn't really matter, your poison).PanmaN

I tend to agree that it is most liekly the card. While my main computer was out of commission I tried to install on my 300,hz celeron and my TNT2 card.Same results unless I lowered all quality and texture settings to minimum.Try a different driver and lower your settings, otherwise you may just have to accept the limitations of your setup.Try the Falcon 50, and you will most likely see similar results.Regards,Joe :-wave.Oshkosh Pictures From 2001 (Part 1) 78 Pics in Frames with 1mb in ThumbnailsHigh speed connection Recommended:http://home.attbi.com/~flypics1/FrameSet.htm.Oshkosh Pictures From 2001 (Part 2) 106 Pics in Frames with 1.5mb in ThumbnailsHigh speed connection recommended:http://home.attbi.com/~flypics2/FrameSet.htm.Picture Gallery of My Flight in a 1945 SNJ-6 on June 1st, 2002Joliet, Illinoishttp://home.attbi.com/~jranos/FrameSet.htm.http://home.attbi.com/~jranos/mysig.jpg http://avsim.com/hangar/air/bfu/logo70.gif

The easiest way is to stop running any utilities on the PC that you don't need for FS. Do an Alt-Ctrl-Del and see what you have running. Things like anti-virus packages, Norton Utilities, Outlook etc. all use up the system memory. See below.

This is how it must be done (and by the way, Project Airbus does have a forum where you could have found the solution).First you need imagetool. It comes with FS2002 Pro. For those of you who own the Standard version, imagetool is included in the gmax tutorial SDK available @ http://zone.msn.com/flightsim/The Voodoo3 doesn't support 1024x1024 DXT textures. To solve the problems, open the textures in imagetool, for each of them, go to the menu Image and select "Create mipmaps". Then save the resulting file. You will now have visible textures. That's all there is to it, aside from buying a new video card that is.Hope that helped.__________________________________________________________EricList of all airlines, aircraft manufacturers and aircraft types recognised by ATC:http://www.geocities.com/eric_2203/orhttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/esearch.php?D...atID=fs2002misc
