747-400 Automatic Thrust Reduction

Recommended Posts

Guest james320

The automatic thrust reduction to CLIMB THRUST after take-off (at Flap 5 by default, but I change it to 1500ft AGL) only works in VNAV.If you're not using VNAV, then how do you manually select CLIMB THRUST after take-off??

I went to the THRUST LIMIT page which shows next to TO, and next to CLB... but don't seem to be able to change to climb by pressing any of the LSK keys. Must be doing something wrong!

Press the THR switch on the MCP panel to the left of the speed selector knob. The switch is only active after 400ft AGL.CheersSteve

Thanks for that... and also for not just telling me to RTFM (read the f***ing manual!). Gonna give it a go.

Be aware that hitting the THR button on the MCP panel will kick you directly into full climb thrust (in the absence of using VNAV) and you must then run to the THR LIM page in the FMC and hit CLB 1 or 2 after that to reduce the thrust to a lower level (if you wish to do a reduced thrust climb, that is).Jonathan

It should go to whatever thrust setting is armed on the thrust limit page. Maybe PMDG have not modelled this. Will have to take a look.CheersSteve

It will only if the current altitude is lower than the altitude set on MCP.>Shouldn't hitting FLCH also select the desired climb thrust?
