ATC for FSX

Recommended Posts

I'm still using the FS9 ATC and am tired of always having to deviate the FMC course just to make ATC happy on approach. I fugured that since I'm switching to FSX very soon, I should also look for a good ATC. I know there are a few ATC addons out there but I'm not sure which one to get. I also don't know if they're planning to upgrade to FSXJust in general, what are the different programs out there and what are their features? Also, is there anything out there with ground calls as well?Ryan Gamurothttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpg

I have no experience with it, but it seems to be very good : http://www.jdtllc.com/Real live ATC can also be found at IVAO : http://www.ivao.aero/hq/ and Vatsim : http://www.vatsim.net/Hope this helps ...

It seems like Radar Contact is very popular as is VATSIM. I was actually looking at VATSIM, but it seems a bit stressful since I don't have a mic and would have to use text. I also wanted a addon to practice with anyway. But does anyone know if Radar Contact is going to be upgraded for FSX or if the current version works?Thank you everyone for the suggestions!Ryan Gamurothttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpg

The current 4.2 is FS9 only. 4.3 will be a free upgrade for 4.x users and will soon be released for FSX. Check the pinned topic in the support forum here on AVSIM.Now a word about FMC and any ATC.ATC rules, not your FMC. It is up to you to insure your FMC parameters meet your ATC clearance. With RC you may get under certain conditions a departure as filed or get vectors. RC has preflight electives to force a departure as filed. The default departure is vectors if your first departure waypoint is outside of 30 nm or a fly as filed clearance if that first waypoint is within. You may also get a take-off clearance with an immediate heading different than runway heading. For approach you have the option when contacted and notified of the runway in use to elect a specific IAP which will void vectors and altitude commands and you will not get contacted again until final. RC may according to AI patterns, if present, change your departure or arrival runway to keep synch with FS AI.There is also the NOTAMS option which will give you flexibility around ATC commands. In the RC inflight menu there are options to skip a way point in the RC list (you must do this if you do not cross it within tolerance limits) and also enroute request altitude changes.RC will not cancel your IFR plan but if you are not in a NOTAMS mode will nag. There is also an optional flight critique at the completion and if you have constantly violated any rules you'll get a verbal visit from the FAA Safety Officer.
