Start switches

Hi,Before engine start, when pulling the engine start switches, a light inside the switches should light up immediately (747, latest version). But the light turns on AFTER switching the Fuel Control sw to RUN.Did I something wrong? Bug?Walter

Hi Walter,If your autostart is engaged, the fuel control switches should be running. It's only when autostart is inoperative or switched off that the fuel switches should also be off when the starter is engaged.Ryan GamurotLucky to live Hawai'ihttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpg

Hi Ryan,Thank you for your reply.Hmm...interesting...I thought the light would come on regardless if the fuel control sw is on or off.CheersWalter

Not in autostart. The correct autostart procedure is to pull the start switch (no light) then turn the fuel control switch on. After a brief delay the eng start switch light will illuminate. The important thing is that you pull the start switch first then put the fuel control switch to run and not the other way around. The PMDG procedure is incorrect and a dangerous method to get accustomed to (could mess up a manual start).

"Hmm...interesting...I thought the light would come on regardless if the fuel control sw is on or off."Not, true... take it from a 744 pilot and a 744 maintenance engineer that this will only happen if the Autostart switch is deselected ;)Cheers.Q>
