I suspect that you will find it here at AVSIM. However, the texture set will work with any DC3 that has been created using similar texture layouts as the R4D. There appears to be many. I downloaded aDouglas DC-3 DCA N1776 and the textures were compatable with this as well but I had to rename each of the files to match the components. Therefore, I believe that I could release several version of the textures matching several version of the DC3 that are available.RegardsGarry

Hi Garry,Those repaints look very nice ! Have you heard back from the R4D team yet ? I suspect that they would only sanction your charging for the liveries if a proportion went towards the MAAM Fund (perhaps 1.00 USD out of the 5.00 USD you propose) but I may be wrong.Cheers,

After e-mail discussions with one of the R4D developers the textures will be released for FREE and will be associated to another DC3 aircraft that they have released. So - no charge - free textures will be available shortly on my C-47 page.RegardsGarry

...The screenshots look superb, Garry. As usual..!! ......I'm looking forward to seeing this livery in person...it should be most interesting and appealing, and I'd add....a "must have" for any collection.

Thanks Magoo,Try hard to do a good job with each texture - but I suspect that this one, like the P-51 will be appreciated for it's "nose art" dirivatives.Regards and happy simmingGarry

Hi Garry,Not here to burst your bubble, but there are problems placing a C-47 texture onto an R4D-6.1. The R4D-6 is way different aircraft from a C-47, they fly differenyl and would need different gauges in the panel.2. The Normandy markings have too many stripes, should be three white and 2 Black.3. You may have to re-define the cargo doors4. Unlike the R4D-6 owned by MAAM, the C-47 did 'not' have an extended nose.5, For a C-47 repaint like the one you are doing, I would suggest contacting the author of the C-47 within Just Flight's "Battle of Britain". This is a REALLY good (and better) design for you to repaint.Regards.. TrevVisit "The DC-3 Hangar"http://www.douglasdc3.comhttp://www.douglasdc3.com/1/dc3.jpg

Hi Trev,Thanks for your excellent input. I do not claim to be an aircraft type expert in anyway simple enjoy texture creation. I definately did not realise that there was so much difference between the DC3 and the C47. I will try and find the C-47 you refer to and have a look at that for repainting. I chose the DC3 textures to tinker with as there seemed to have been a lot of people that were using them and I thought that the alternative skin would be fun.The 3 White and 4 Black stripes are similar to an image in a book that a friend referred to me so I guess there must have been some alternatives.Anyway off to seek out the C47 you referred to.

Hi Garry,Yup.. I am a great admirer of your work btw.. Love those metallic liveries you do.If you want to check on the C-47 Normandy stripes, visit my page and follow the link from the main page to 'Incredible DC-3 photo's".. there is a nice rendition of a C-47 in Normandy markings there for you.Now what would be really nice, was if someone did a C-47 that also towed the wooden WWII Waco Glider for FS or CFS.Regards.. Thanks Trev,That images gives me something to work on for colours and stripes.Appreciated.Just received approval to release my textures for the C-47 page and have also received recommendations for which model to use - Jan Visser's TDM - Cargo - Jan strongly recommended the DDZ version as it was actually a C47 model which flew unde USAAF Number 43-15288 - but I can't handle the download size of 22mb - If someone wants to send me just the texture files for this aircraft (zipped up of course) then I will also release a version for this.PS - the textures are looking really good now - added some dints and dirt.http://www.gjsmith.com/images/C47-FINALBLANK-9.jpg

Hi Garry,Looks great.. this will have to be a C-47A then with the single blowers as seen in the photo.DDZ was actually just a repaint by Jan of the R4D-6 and it included the R4D-6 air file. I was able to modify the air file to have it fly like a DC-3/C-47 instead.I could point out the differences too, from a DC-3 to a C-47.. but then that would be just purists stuff. ;-) :-)Keep up the good work!!Regards.. Thanks Trev,Check out my latest post to this forum - now refering to the textures as C47A and have edited my web page to say C47A. Hope that makes it clear.I have also redone all of the textures - wasn't totally happy with the OD colours but I think now it's right.Check out http://www.gjsmith.com/c-47.htm (on the page it is called C47A) I think you will like the end results and may have some suggestions for schemes for me.Garry
