File system damaged

Recommended Posts

Hi,First of all, this has nothing to do with aircrafts but I'm out of options so that's why I'm asking it over here. But how do you repair a damaged file system? The problem is that I can't, or not correct atleast, defrag my pc because of a "file system damaged" error.Any ideas?

Pull up the run box and enter SFC /Scannow (you'll probably need your XP install disk).http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documen...r.mspx?mfr=trueOnce that's finished up go into My Computer, rt clk on your drive, select properties > Tools > Error checking > check now > check both boxes, run on next boot . . . then reboot. Stand clear. If that doesn't work, reload your drive's image from the Acronis backup image you made last month . . . or reinstall from scratch, then make one!Vista's got a complete drive image maker just like Acronis. Did 2 complete reinstalls from a Vista backup image onto totally wiped clean, formated drive . . just to get a warm fuzzy about depending on it. I'm not quite ready to give up my Cloned, sitting-in-the-closet, real-deal back up quite yet, but so far, so good.
