Hi Captains,This is somewhat very confusing for me and am not sure whether this happens in the real world too..Lets say I am holding a particular heading and now i want to execute a 180 degree (or more)right turn..I rotate the HDG knob to the right and select the new heading and now i expect it to start turning right..But sometimes i find that it turns left to track the new heading which i do not want...Some specific scenarios could be holding patterns ...I am not sure for turns with a heading difference of 180 or more what determines the direction of turn of the aircraft? How can I make sure that the aircraft makes a turn in the direction which i want it to?Pankaj

Pankaj,If you keep rotating the knob in the direction you want to turn (even past 180 degrees from the current heading) it should still turn in that direction. We had a bug prior to the service packs and the 400F that would cause it to go the other way, but I think that was fixed. Do you have the 400F? It might have been part of that.

Hi,Thanx Ryan for the reply.So would i be correct in assuming that in real world the aircraft would initiate a turn in the direction where the heading knob is rotated?To answer your question I own the 744 PAX version..Right now the only way i can achieve this to select a slightly different heading in the direction of the turn.This gets it out of the heading hold mode and then rotate the knob in the direction of turn to a new heading..This will ensure that the aircraft will turn towards the intended direction.I am not sure whether we could apply the service update for F version to the PAX..Pankaj
