FS2002.cfg , Multiplayer Question ...

Recommended Posts

Guest Fly1

Just curious,Does anyone know what the setting's noted below from the FS2002.cfg are for? Is it possible to send textures and models while on-line, therefore enabling others to see your aircraft if not on their system? That would be too cool. I'm sure you and probably everyone else on-line would need a very hefty bandwidth to do this. I'll bet it is for some other mundane use. [MULTIPLAYER]...ALLOW_PLANE_MODEL_SEND=0ALLOW_TEXTURE_SEND=0...Another naive question, is there a way to make the prop spin while on-line, i.e. helicopter blades, etc.BC

In MP mode you can change these (without having to edit the cfg) by going to your Settings option and checking the two boxes (Send Aircraft and Receive aircraft).Unfortunately, at least in the tests I've conducted, this doesn't seem to work, or perhaps I should state more clearly that its workings seem bizarre and arbitrary. Obviously it's not going to send an entire aircraft the person you're gaming with doesn't have -- that would be crazy (and require too much bandwidth). But it doesn't even seem to respect reasonable repaints. So far, all I've seen is that if you fly any kind of custom craft (even including a repaint of a stock plane) and are MPing with some like individual, what you see is yourself, mirrored. However, I am going to do more testing (and if anyone's interested, I may do this again this Saturday at noon PST. Posting here to follow).

Exactly. You have to have the same plane and the same repaint to see it in a multi-player game. The only thing send/receive aircraft details does, is allows you to see the gear sometimes ;-)It's really not a big deal esp. if you fly online with a regular group. I do often and we have all managed to aquire the same planes and repaints.
