What OS/Sim Platform Combination are you using?

Captains-We are rapidly approaching the release of the PMDG 747-400X!I thought it might be interesting to collect a bit of data on what platform mixes you all are using?We have a pretty heavy mix of things internally and on our testing teams... But I wanted to see what you all are using!Thanks!

Hello Robert,Maybe you can extend your list with :- "I am running WinXP with FSX on a computer and FS9 on a 2nd computer"- "I am running Vista with FSX on a computer and FS9 on a 2nd computer"I'm doing the first one because I have more addons for FS9 (like your birds) and I'm running FSX for flying the B-763 Leveld and awaiting your B-744X.Best regards,Peter

Robert,I have several machines. So I voted already for my main one, Win XP with FS9 and FSX installed. I have another machine, Vista and FSX only. And my last machine with XP and FSX only. NOW, the reason I have FS9 installed on the one machine is your 747/747F and both 737 addons. I use FS9 for NOTHING else! You know my reasons.

Win XP Pro and FS9 only. In fact, my new fast computer components will be here Monday and will likely run FSX decently, however, I'm sticking with FS9 for a long time still. I've spent too much money on FS9 add-ons that might not be updated for FSX, plus I like to be able to run max settings, and I can't even do that now with my current computer in FS9. After downloading Glacier Bay and seeing how a few clouds and add-on turboprop kill my FPS, I'm excited to use FS9 on a modern computer.Will I install FSX? Probably. Will I buy any add-ons for FSX in the next 12 to 24 months? Cautiously, and possibly not at all. It might take the following build after this one to consider such spending habits.

Triple Boot systemWin XP runs FS9Vista runs FSX (which I mainly use now)and a version of Vista for general computing on third boot, neither of the FS boots have any of my other computer crap just bare minimum to run them as dedicated FS systems.Each version of FS is installed on its own harddrive, and each version of the operating sytem also on own hardrive partition.will have new faster PC this winter when the next Gen DX10 cards come out and spend days setting this all up again lol!Second PC with all addons running networked like FSINN, activesky etcand third laptop PC that powers my FS cockpits MFD.James Carr(EGBB ATCO)

Like others here, I run more than one computer.#1 (my newest PC) is a high-end Core Duo machine with 4 GB RAM, and a GTX8800 video card. This computer is dedicated to FSX running under Vista Ultimate. I've installed several FSX enhancements, including FS Genesis worldwide mesh and US landclass, UT USA, and My Traffic for FSX.#2 is my primary FS9 platform - running Win XP. When I'm running FSX on #1, I run Active Sky X on #2 (over WideFS)#3 is a WinXP laptop. When I run FSX on #1, I run FS Commander and Radar Contact 4.5 on #3 (I have no problems running two separate WideFS outboard systems with FSX running on #1.)When I use FS9 on #2 (primarily for the PMDG 747, or when I want to fly on VATSIM), I use the #3 laptop to run Active Sky 6.5, and Squawkbox 3.Very much looking forward to the arrival of the Queen for FSX!Jim Barrett

Robert, I am using a Dual Core machine with 4gb ram with a EVGA 7900 video card running Vista Ultimate 32 for FSX and FS9 with a second machine for utilities like WideFS, ASV and FS GoogleEarth running Windows XP Pro. I have a third computer I am running WinXP Pro with WideFS to monitor Long flights while I work on home projects. Ken

XP with FS9 and FSX.FS9 purely for the PMDG 747 and the PSS 757.When they move to FSX FS9 will be unlikely to remain on the drive.Waiting for new year sales for a Vista DX10 upgrade and will probably be Vista + FSX only after that.

Hi Robert,I've been flying FSX with Win XP for few months.I'd have preferred instead to remain with FS9 (and all its Add ons) for some more time, but my new machine just did not like it...It kept on performing CTDs which forced me to migrate to FSX...Nick

Windows XP and FS9 until a few more addons become compatible w/ FSX. Even though I have FSX installed, I have probably only spent about 30 minutes tinkering around with it.... I simply have too many payware a/c and scenery for FS9 to switch to FSX yet.Oh and I'll be deep in the cold cold ground before I switch to Vista.-Peter Allen

Im running FSX on a third machine (old one) with Windows 7 Beta and im VERY happy with it... i just installed it to test and not to play as my FSX sim is a XP machine, but Windows 7 platform is SO stable!
