PMDGOPTIONS.dll Trouble

Thanks for the reply Jeff.Although i understand what you are saying, i do not think that the problem is with Squawkbox. I didn't have squawkbox installed last time and it still happened.I have 1 theory (far fetched maybe). It normally happens around 40 minutes, so could it possibly be my computer running out of memory? Or something similar??Regards, Sam Hampson

LOL, I just took one look at the poster and could tell right off that first: It's not nearly the same as yours (similar but not exact). Secondly: there is no error shown...but I do see what the user is showing....a freeze most likely.Look, guys, please listen to those of use who have been around the block.I already saw several good replies which I can tell that you haven't done yet.1. Run full screen.2. Delete your fs.cfg file.3. Read the entire post.etc., etc., etc.,....Here's the deal:Now that alot of you are graduating into the hard core simmer club, there's a few minus's you need to know about. The first one is that as much as we try, this (addons) is not an exact science, which is very unfortunate.We/they are trying to create addons which technically should not work with FS because alot of these things are actually written outside of the SDK set forth by MS.The plus's are that most developers and users are very experienced and can usually help get you up and running very quickly, but you're now into the actual hobby part of FS and you're going to have to take some time and work it, just like building a model airplane.Once you're willing to do that, that payoff is 10X better then you could ever imagine.

Well then, I'm thouroughly confused, because I thought you just told me that it happened 'after' you installed SB....LOL.How much ram are you running again? and how much video mem have you got.Search for some free utils that will check your ram also. If you have a bad ram stick though you'd get a blue screen error, so I doubt that's the issue. If you're running out of mem, like the other poster in your link CLEARLY was, then you need to start shutting down back ground applications that such you resources up like MSN, Skype, all that crap that's loading rotating advertisements and other stuff...bla bla bla.Best of luck!

Sorry if i have came across a bit over 'enthusiastic'.I have just updated my graphics card drivers, and i will delete the fs.cfg and see what happens.IF i have no luck, i don't think there is much light at the end of the tunnel...Sam Hampson

The fs9.cfg is in your main FS directory. While you're at it, also delete the FSUIPC.ini (or .cfg) file, can't remember which, it's in your fs9/modules folder, the re-start FS and they will both rebuild.

You wouldn't be able to start FS if it wasn't in there. Keep looking you'll find it.

Argh! It's happened again!I installed the 747/F and after about 40 minutes flying it crashed :( FS went black, and i was just left with PMDG and modules at the top. When i press ctrl alt delete i just get the irritating 'boom' noise, and nothing happens. Cant click anything on pc, right click, close fs or anything. I have to turn PC off at wall :(Regards, Sam

Hi SamI am able to try a 747 flight to day or later this week.Which flight have you been trying? I will fly the flight on my machine and see what happens.I did notice that you did not say what your total memory was on your computer! Is it 1gb or 2gb.I take it that the 512 ram mentioned was not referring to computer memeory by mistake.I run as addons Active Sky 6.5,Traffic 2005 at 55%,Radar Contact 4.3 and FS Commander in the background.I have FS pax installed but have not used it with PMDG products as the VA that I fly for uses Buses in the main!RegardsNorman Bowman

Hellojust got back from down south so have been un-able to post. After trying and trying it seems that this will be a problem that won't be going away, so i therefore think putting the 747 on the shelf would be a good idea...Sam

Sam-if the "last thing" that happens before you crash is a loud sound, I'd suggest thinking about what your sound card is, on the PC. Is it onboard? They have been known to cause problems/bad performance.Also- definitely think about upgrading your RAM - 512MB is too low to thoroughly enjoy the sim.
