Flying Stealth on VATSIM network! - PLEASE READ!

Recommended Posts

Guest

I was flying in a route from Moscow to Kiev and a friend of mine sent me a message saying he was "online" also. He said he would catch up with me, but I could not get him on my radar. I could see his plane, but my radar could not!! He told me he found a way to Fly Stealth so that even the Controllers could not see him. I ask the CTR if he could see someone around me and the controller said "NEGATIVE".How is this possible? He did not want to tell me how did he do it, but I was amazed! This could cause problems if someone with this type of set up decides to be childish and mess up someone else's flight.Anybody have any ideas how did he do it?

My guess would be he was squawking standby. He 'can' be seen squawking standby however, but he'd be very difficult to find if the controllers scope was zoomed out as most Center Controllers are.I think the Controller just didn't look that hard for him. If the Controller zoomed in to your area he'd have probably seen him.He probably was on the Controllers ATC list, so the Controller could also highlight his position on the scope by entering his callsign. If the Controller didn't know the callsign he could try them all till he eventually finds him.His lat/lon position is also listed on the server data files, he could be found by process of elimination that way.IOW there are several ways to be found should someone try and cause trouble.Regards.Ernie.
